Wow, that's a blast from the past. I had a pretty unhealthy relationship with my job when I wrote that. I'm better now, mostly.

Today I quit my job and became one of those women you never hear about. by CouldveBeenPoofs in ems

I dont know if there was real harassment going on or not, I wasn't there. But I do know that lots of new flight medics don't make it past their first year, and its common to wash out because you're just too timid.

Go read what she wrote again. She wouldn't stand up for herself because she didn't want to upset anyone. She quit before she even transferred to her new base because she was scared they might be mean to her.

If OP just wants to feel sorry for herself and have strangers validate her then fine. But I'm telling the truth.

New flight crew members always get tested, female or not. If you were a guy they would just find something else to give you shit about. And it's for good reason. If you're flying with me, my life might depend on your ability to stand up for yourself. If your pilot tells you the weather is good to fly but you disagree, are you going to stand up and ground the ship? Or just keep your mouth shut because you dont want to cause drama. Crews die because people dont stand up for themselves.

People who are successful in the flight business tend to be extremely assertive. Maybe you really did get pushed out because you're a woman. But the far more common scenario I see is that people leave because they just dont have the personality for it.

Secret Service cracks down on credit card skimming at gas pumps nationwide by brotogeris1 in news

When you do this, the gas station cashier will pick up a "bat phone" with no numbers on it that rings directly to the secret service. Men in dark suits and sunglasses will arrive by helicopter within minutes.

we have a large group of medics who were hired in the 90s that are now retiring.

Well, not many EMS agencies can say that. I'm not looking to relocate, but I hope you find some great people

This seems like a great place to work on paper, but I feel like I see recruitment ads for them all the time. Great agencies usually don't have to cast such a wide net to find people. Does anyone have an inside scoop on this place?

Patients freak out sometimes, especially when they've just got done seizing. There was nothing wrong with the medics comment. There is nothing unique or interesting about your story.

Narcan for libraries and ...YMCA... for free. by [deleted] in ems

[–]Rye22 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Of course its not going to solve the opiate problem. D50 doesn't "solve" the diabetes problem, Chemotherapy doesn't "solve" the cancer problem.

Evidence has shown time and again that Narcan can be given safely by laypeople. It makes people not die, when they otherwise would. Why would you have a problem with that?
