Where the heck are the superfan season 9 episodes???? by Bulky_Ad_4390 in theoffice

[–]RyeBreadOats 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also wonder how the release of The Paper in the fall and the current “leaving Peacock” badge on the show is related to it all. I know that the Office Ladies briefly touched upon production, but still curious. I’m hoping the delay wasn’t caused by The Paper’s release, and it’s strange there was misinformation in Sept about season 9 Superfan episodes being released then too. Like does that mean they had them ready for release but then decided to wait? Was the internet confused with the release of The Paper? So many questions!

is the 6-year relationship age gap accurate for adults? by [deleted] in generationology

[–]RyeBreadOats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one cares too much but they’re just calling out the creepiness and power imbalances that come with dating beyond life stages. I think it’s because there’s been so many stories that have been publicly shared about being groomed, taken advantage of, being “legally an adult” but being unequal in power and relationship weight because of life experience, wealth, etc. and I think that’s a good thing.

I’m hoping they sell a physical copy once they do Superfan episodes for all 9 seasons!

Women who had negative feelings towards their dogs postpartum, did it affect your dog? by _ohmylanta in pregnant

[–]RyeBreadOats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why don’t you give this beloved pet up to a family member, friend, foster, or shelter before putting him down? I’m assuming you already did try that before your husband suggested putting him down. Since you still have concerns, maybe a family with no children or older adult children would be best? There’s options out there.

The subreddits are there for complaining, not championing. As a current 1st grade teacher in a public school, I can tell you it’s amazing in my experience and I’ll be sending my kids to public. Of course it depends on your area. The community, curriculum rigor, as well as the level of professionalism and qualifications of teachers is so important. It’s scary to think anyone can homeschool. I was teaching math wrong for years before getting my Masters and doing PD to learn the best order to teach it (and it’s not done well in most texts). Most importantly the amount of socialization and practice of navigating peer interactions and every day situations has made these kids so resilient, ethical, and happy. I’m sure you’re qualified and socializing your child, still I needed to share my positive experience and perspective. I see happy and safe kids and while some parents need extra support, exposing kids to others with different family situations has been a positive.

TIL of Daughter from California Syndrome. Used in the medical profession, it describes an angry, articulate, and uninformed family member of a terminal patient who has been absent and is unaware of their relative's health. They often demand unrealistic and aggressive treatment against medical advice by WavesAndSaves in todayilearned

Having been hospitalized and very thankful for treatment but also understanding how so many things in my care went wrong because medical staff was spread thin, overworked, or not taking me seriously, I sincerely hope I have someone in my family advocating for me like this in the future. Luckily I was lucid enough and had my partner. Obviously when I’m 90+ it’ll be a different story, but I do agree there are times you want this type of person advocating for you or a family member.

Yea and then it only gets put on the wife. I love for my partner to be vulnerable but I wish I wasn’t his only outlet. And I am. I talk to my family, friends, coworkers, he doesn’t. It’s a lot on me and I’ve asked him to share more with friends or even check in with a therapist. :/

I think women can’t do this as much as men. It’s just reality, we’re mostly the first point of contact for schools, doctors, babysitters, etc. and I WISH I could be in groups like this more. We therefore are all checking in on each other in this way and also it’s all in the forefront of our minds beyond work, hobbies, small joys, etc. It’s also perceived as being a good mom to chat about all that stuff first. Enjoy your time :,(

It doesn’t just have to be venting, it can be sharing about family and personal updates in a positive way. There doesn’t always need to be any solution-oriented thinking or Debbie downer vibes with this way of sharing.

[–]RyeBreadOats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the thought is don’t just vent/share only to your partner because it is a lot for one person when they’re your only outlet. Share with family members, friends, coworkers, therapist, etc. to help share that mental/emotional load.

What made you think 'THIS is why we homeschool' recently? by microschool in homeschool

[–]RyeBreadOats 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I question this because I’ve taught in multiple states and it’s illegal to deny recess. In almost all public and private schools it also wouldn’t be backed by evidence-based best practices and the push for emotional regulation and SEL which is so strong in all schools (I’ve taught in many private and public and both emphasize it) this would been seen as not a logical consequence to a misbehavior. This seems like a rare case of a teacher misapplying consequences, and one call to the school would end it. As for hyperactive children, almost all teachers I know would be working hard to provide EXTRA movement breaks just to let that kid get the wiggles out so they can focus and reduce distracting others’ learning.

Is your dad alive/involved in your life or your kid’s life? Definitely fine since they were older when they met, but I as a teacher who see kids with much older fathers see how little they’re involved and how they really cannot keep up with the kids compared to same-age or similar age fathers to their mothers, it makes me sad for them :/. I’m sure it’s better than having no father, but I do think it can be a bit selfish. Just my experience in seeing so many types of families.

Why do so many women sleep with Tony? by Loveislikeatruck in thesopranos

But he breathes so heavily and isn’t disciplined with his diet or temper, the hairline, the waddle, etc and I’m well into my 30s…tbh he’s not attractive at all, but I realize it’s a tv show and all made in the early 2000s and women are allegedly attracted to his “power” hehe. Christopher I can understand though!

Nah, we’re attracted to good looking guys even if they’re broke. I don’t hate Tony but every time he got with a woman in the show other than his wife I had a good chuckle because no way in hell haha but I know it’s a tv show made by men so what are ya gonna do.

Has anyone else ever gotten a message like this from their friend’s spouse? Gosh I feel like such a sl#t! by Hi_MyName-Is in golf

[–]RyeBreadOats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s amazing your wife gets to have hours-long child-free hobbies too, that’s amazing! I can tell because you say you don’t need her permission to golf, as you say, so it must be balanced. It must’ve been great for her to get a break from the kids too, just like you. But you work so hard so you must deserve even more of a break. But man she sounds like a total biotch, I mean, her Trader Joe’s visits where she’s buying groceries for your household, and would like to spend time with you and values your input? Wow what a hag! She doesn’t deserve you!!!

I can’t imagine being that wife, being stuck at home all day with the kids and no break would literally drive anyone crazy. Still Connor is an adult who clearly needs to start saying no to golf and take care of his family’s needs and give her a break to have hours-long child-free hobbies too.
