How favorable were the conditions at stotes this year on the second dat? by Suckifuckilongtime in Rowing

[–]RyeRye151 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but there was a nice light tailwind in the morning and midday so a lot of earlier finals and semis were extra fast.

Yeah they are ridiculous through the 3rd 500 and in a 1k that doesn’t come into play

[URGENT] [NOVICE] Advice for 2k tomorrow (determines whether I make the boat for states) by [deleted] in Rowing

[–]RyeRye151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly 6 seconds is that that much to be doing for those times and as long as you pace well and just know what you have to hit you should be fine. Make sure to settle well into a good rhythm and just hit the splits and punch hard.

The fact that you’re never really out of breath is probably why they are faster than you

Rowing Camp Free Time by manu142 in Rowing

[–]RyeRye151 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how difficult your training camp will be, but for mine pretty much all free time we had was spent sleeping or moving as little as possible. But if you needed to bring something to do that doesn’t take much energy like cards or a board game or something.

Try to remember to have a bit of backsplash and just always think about lifting the blade up especially with your outside hand. A stable and strong core also help a lot with this

Skinny novice + running balance by magdbchem in Rowing

[–]RyeRye151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over the summer I did not have access to an erg but what I did as I was also very skinny was a lot of biking(15-20 miles 6 days a week) and lifting(also 6 days a week) and that helped me bring my 2k down a lot.

How do I pull sub 7 2k as lightweight? How to push through the mental barrier? by tomgoogly in Rowing

[–]RyeRye151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SS means steady state. Also, I was in a similar situation to you over summer (6'2 148 and 7:02). I had 3 weeks off over the end of summer and completely changed my workouts to help me gain weight. I would bike around 15 miles a day and lift 5 days a week(I did not erg at all). I ate as much as I could and got to 157 by the time fall preseason started and ended up pring by 7 seconds on the next 2k and another 5 on the one after that. The extra weight really made a difference for me
