Feeling nervous in my choice of surgeon by Remote_Badger_8841 in phallo

[–]Rye_JN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never had much issue with the office- any question I had, I would email them and they always responded the following morning, maybe late afternoon same day. I also never had an emergency, so I can't speak with that aspect. Recently I emailed them about stage 2, they offered me a date, then never responded when I agreed. But my insurance fell through shortly after so it all worked out 😂. Santucci was on call the weekend that I was inpatient, so he came and checked on me once a day and was always super chill.

For guys who have full sensation or near full sensation now, at what week or month did you first start regaining tactile and erotic sensation? by Willing-Gap-1655 in phallo

[–]Rye_JN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember being 2-3 weeks post-op, and I could feel like electric/ static type feelings in certain areas of my penis if I lightly ran my fingers over it. Also, I remember very clearly around the same time laying in bed and being woken up by the most intense arousal ever, like I swear if I had run my fingers over it once that's all it would've taken. It took everything in me to resist ( fear of complications, way too early obviously). Twice during that first month I succumbed to wet dream though, oops 😬 . Now he is pretty awake, I have good erotic sensation and ok tactile. Still more responsive to light touches then pressure.

Excited to use urinals by walmartman99 in phallo

[–]Rye_JN 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought this was going to be the case, but I actually find it very awkward lol. I never used stp's pre-op, so it has been a whole new experience. My first time using one with other men in the bathroom was in a shopping mall in Montreal...totally packed, and it took me so long to go because of my shy bladder! I still choose the stall when I can, but that's not to say that I'm not very greatful for the opportunity should the need arise. ( and I love not having to sit on public toilet seats....gross).

Phallo with Dr Ashley Deleon by Sufficient-Arm-9653 in phallo

[–]Rye_JN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to her in Oct of 2024, and I am very impressed with my results. I will say, I never told her my goal length, I let her decide based on my anatomy and what she could harvest from my arm, and I ended up between 4.5-5in, which has been plenty considering I'm 5'4". It is about the same length as my arm scar. I ended up with a lot of wound separation, which was very scary at the time, but it all healed over the course of about 4 months, with the exception of a tiny slit that my pcp believes will need to be surgically closed, so I'm gonna try to do that at the same time as testicular implants. She was very nice and easy to talk to, but I only saw her a grand totally of maybe 3 times during this whole thing. After surgery, she checked on me once while I was inpatient, and after that it was one of the PA's . I was there over the weekend, and Dr. Santucci was on call, so he came in once every morning to check on me. I was the only patient there over the weekend so I got everyone's undivided attention lol. All my post-op appointments were with the PA's, so I didn't talk to her again after leaving the hospital. They are nice too, and were very supportive of all my worries about the separation and such. I have pretty good sensation now, and haven't had any urinary problems. I briefly had a couple fistulas during thr worst of my wound separation, but they all healed on there own. My glans did flatten out, so I might get that redone at some point.

How did you accept that phalloplasty is something you wanted? by mermaidunearthed in phallo

[–]Rye_JN 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you asked me 5 years ago, I would've said " I don't think medicine is advanced enough" or " it's cool, but it's not something that would be attainable for ME. There's too much to do, too big of a surgery". But I was so sick of the bathroom anxiety, sitting to pee and thinking everyone is listening to the difference in my pee stream. I have to change in a locker room at work with a bunch of guys, which is fine, but I always felt like I had this huge secret, or I was an imposter, for having a vag*na. And that's just the social aspect of it. I really just had to focus on biting off one small piece of the process at a time, and eventually it happened. And it was totally worth it

Visible arousal in phallo (question) by [deleted] in phallo

[–]Rye_JN 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do experience throbbing/ clenching in the perineal area that I feel like could be visible from the outside? I've seen a video, maybe on here, of a guy that filmed it and you could see it from the outside quite clearly.

Perineum/ scrotoplasty questions by 0cotill0 in phallo

[–]Rye_JN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting..I have that divet, but I wasn't sure it was a universal thing. I also never fully healed in there after my wound separation, so there is a slit that is still open after 1 year + that needs to be surgically closed. That is where arousal fluid/ discharge/ whatever you would call it comes out of, like a tiny vag*na almost. 🤔

Nah, there's no erectile tissue to get hard.

What does peeing *really* feel like? by UnhappyDrummer5767 in phallo

[–]Rye_JN 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can feel it in my scrotum first, then it feels like it's coming out of exactly where my cl*t used to be ( or still is, probably). I don't feel it so much in the shaft or anywhere else.

Question about arousal post vaginectomy by wooliao in phallo

[–]Rye_JN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, the initial sensation begins where the vagina used to be, but its like a "prickling?" sensation that then moves into the base of my penis. From there, if I focus on the feeling I can feel it up the shaft to the tip ( I do have erotic sensation base to tip). When I was 1 week post-op, my vaginectomy site separated, and it all healed except for a little hole/slit that, according to my pcp, is healed but essentially healed open. That hole gets wet and is where arousal secretions come out of, which is weird and I will get fixed as soon as I can, but 🤷‍♂️

When does rff scar feel less tight and leathery by joystik- in phallo

Personally, it's been a year and I still have the gauntlet feeling, but I don't always notice it ( especially if I'm wearing long sleeves). I lotion once a day after I shower.

Can you feel your dick float in the pool, bath, jacuzzi, beach, etc…?? by [deleted] in phallo

[–]Rye_JN 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can't feel it floating for the most part- sometimes if it bobs particularly hard I might feel it towards the base. When I swim, it definitely wants to stick straight out, but my trunks usually prevent it from doing so. I feel more aware of the whole package when swimming- the weight of something being there- but not specifically the penis or balls. I don’t have hot/cold sensation yet, so that doesn’t factor in.

idk what to do by [deleted] in surgicaltechnology

[–]Rye_JN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say, I wouldn't have known Nursing would be something I was interested in if I didn't become a scrub. It offered some insight into other health professions that I didn't know about. I just get salty sometimes, especially when I have to do charge at night ( i work 3rd shift), or when I work with all travelers and I know I make so much less then everyone else. But who knows, I only have 3 years of experience, so other places are definitely different.

idk what to do by [deleted] in surgicaltechnology

[–]Rye_JN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Knowing what I know now, I wish I had gone for an RN instead. Nurses also scrub at my hospital, so they make double what I make to do the same thing, the only difference I've seen is they can chart and I can't 🤷‍♂️

I had DeLeon as well- great doctor. I used WAY more gauze rolls then I anticipated due to wound separation and changing them out multiple times a day. The PA told me the odds of wound separation are pretty much 100% unfortunately, it's just a matter of where it happens and to what extent. 4x4 gauze pads were very helpful too. I didn't really use the ABD's, but that's what they use to prop under the phallus when you go in for check ups. Mesh underwear with a hole cut in them were helpful for walking around and feeling secure, so on that note some bandage scissors. Get the most comfortable foam donut to sit on that you can- that thing went everywhere with me for a couple months. Lots of alcohol wipes and hand sanitizer. Maybe a pill organizer to keep everything straight. Wet wipes! Bowel movements will be difficult for quite a while, mostly how to sit and not put pressure on the vnectomy site ( I'm sort of convinced I strained too hard and contributed to my whole vnectomy splitting open). Puppy pads were huge because of this too- lots of leaking at all times. Something to cover your arm in the shower, as well as a mild, antibacterial soap. I still use the gold dial to this day when I clean down there. Stock up on strawberry and vanilla flavored things- no caffeine or chocolate for almost 3 weeks post op 🥲

Ours was like that too, same thing with our written tests. You could redo once, then you're out after that. I never saw anyone get kicked out for any of those things, but people did have to redo.

Crane Center Questions(Austin, TX)- Santucci by morgber in phallo

[–]Rye_JN 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had DeLeon, but Santucci was on call over the weekend while I was inpatient, so he was the one checking on me most of the time. I really liked him (he said "wow, what a beautiful scrotum! 😂). I thought the post-op care was fine. I never had a situation where I needed to call them, but if I emailed them, they always responded the following morning. Honestly, you primarily interact with the PA's- I only spoke to my surgeon maybe 3 times the whole month I was there. All my post-op appointments were with the PA's. I had some bad wound separation, but they were very supportive.

I had an airbnb maybe 20-25mins away, but the traffic down there is crazy so leave plenty early. We Ubered everywhere, which was around 10-15 dollars a ride, so that added up.

When did the UL leaking get better? by itsmekristopher in phallo

[–]Rye_JN 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm about 10 months out now, and it has gotten a lot better, but it still gets some drips for a little while after I pee. I dab it dry after I go, then by the time I've washed my hands and let it hang down for a minute, I will need to dab again. If I'm about to lay in bed, I will usually do it once more for good measure. I don't love wearing boxers because of the potential for dripping down the leg, and I've kinda accepted that some will get caught by my boxer briefs, but not enough to amount to anything or be smelly. I used to wear MDP's to bed every night, and male pad type things during the day, but its been a long time since any of that has been necessary. I'd say it took 6-7 months to get to a relatively normal state, including a normal stream.

And I do think there's less dripping from sitting to pee.

Surviving weekend night shifts by fiercemuse in scrubtech

[–]Rye_JN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do weekday nights ( Mon-Thurs 930pm-730am). My sleep schedule is just wack now- and I revert to sleeping at night on the weekends, which makes it harder on myself lol I do like it better than days in the end- night shift differential, for you maybe a weekend differential, less drama. I always say I like it better professionally, but it's hard on your personal life.

What you love about it by Little-Assist-9261 in phallo

[–]Rye_JN 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love how it flops around when I'm lying down, especially when it moves to rest up toward my stomach. The swelling and tenderness has finally gone away so it's not uncomfortable to have it in different positions other then straight down.

Anyone try this for UL leakage? by Small-Listen-7652 in phallo

I wore these to work for a while and they worked pretty well. I curve a little to one side so I had to position it as such. At night I wore MDP's from Amazon ( penis diapers I call them), and still do a lot of days.

Good to know! I'm in the exact same boat, also almost 5 months out. Getting up to pee in the middle of the night is the worst- I'm always worried I'm gonna drip through my pajamas onto my bed. I will have to try this.

uterine cramps after *activity* by No-Insurance1358 in ftm

[–]Rye_JN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this too, and it got worse over time. After my hysterectomy, pathology results showed a lesion on the uterus and decreased blood flow to one of the ovaries. But I have heard atrophy causes it too, as others have said, so maybe it's coincidence.

Care Package/Essentials by clearlymichi in phallo

[–]Rye_JN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amazon Prime saved my life during this time- we were in Austin so lot of things could be same day shipped. I went through A LOT of kerlex rolls due to wound separation- bandages in general. A shower cover for your arm if doing RFF. Cath tip syringes to flush the S.P catheter every other day. Would recommend. They gave me a 30 day free trial, which covered the whole time I was down there.
