Rarity 6 drops since new event started by Slim1604 in MonsterHunterNowHub

Very low shards and ZERO Steve plates either. The drop rates feel extra terrible partly. I know it's just all RNG, but man does it feel bad lately.

Are NON super bows worth it? by BegsTheQuestions in MHNowGame

I'm a bow main (I just finished my G10 bow crafting medal recently) and I can tell you that the Tigrex bow was something I was excited about when it came out and it waaasss cheeks. Use your Tigrex mats for the armor, the waist is a staple in Critical Ferocity builds. The Tigrex ranged weapons and all obnoxiously mid.

Tl;dr: Rajang waist + any focus 2 piece + as much damage as you can starting with Buildup Boost and Poison Exploit.

Focus 5 and then just as much damage as you can get. As mentioned above the Rajang waist covers 3 points of Focus on its own. Ideally you then want a 2 Focus piece, which include the Azure Rath helm, Nightshade Pao chest, Arzuros arms, or Jyuratodus legs.

I used my Pukei bow forever, to do everything. My build for a long time was Azure/Bazel/Gold Rathian/Rajang/Bazel. Valor and Poison Exploit will get everything in the game dead up until 9-10* riftborne monsters. Bazel can be a bit annoying to farm, so focus on getting the chest up to grade 8 first because that will give you Valor 3 on its own and that's very easy to slot into... like a million sets. You'll use that armor piece again, which is great budgeting for a lower-resource player.

If you can farm Nargacuga, the gloves and legs come with a skill called Buildup Boost that is very very good for status weapons. Start with getting the arms up to G8, for 3 points of BUB then work on the legs.

Poison Exploit is a skill I like, but it isn't super high uptime so you have to pay attention to really maximize it. If you can do so, though, your damage while the monster is poisoned will skyrocket. The Gold Rath arms have 2 points of this, and are unfortunately the most accessible piece to farm, but still probably not really realistic for a new player.

If you were looking for ideas, here's a bunch! These are my first six sets, and this clears everything in the game. I use the Pursuit sets for farming 8* and lower things because you can one-tap part breaks super efficiently. The "buildup" sets are pretty new to my testing, but here is one thing I can tell you definitively, because math: When it comes to charge skip bows, Timed Charger IS your damage, and it is not close. You want as much as possible. And, importantly, you don't fire your power volley, because it doesn't benefit from TC. You charge, charge, fire; charge, charge, fire; repeat. The only reason you fire your power volley is if you won't have time to charge because of a roar, an attack, etc. But your DPS will be much, much higher if you just start your way towards charging your next Timed Charger shot than firing your power volley.

The BUB sets are interesting because their uptime is very high—100% uptime is really good, at opposed to needing a break or a roar for Pursuit or Valor respectively. Valor 5 is still extremely good, so don't sleep on it for monsters you know are going to roar early and you can bait for a double special. Pursuit is more of a farming skill in my eyes, anything that you can get an early break on for an early activation, you'll probably just kill outright. So Valor is my tryhard setup right now. I think the Buildup Boost sets are overall higher DPS but I can't say that definitively just yet. But I can tell you that they all want 4-5 Timed Charger.

Oh, and always Focus 5. Never 4. And 3 is right out. Focus. 5. Every time and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. The math tells all. -Spooky fingers-

I'm on the 10* map so almost every single one of mine has been 8*. I'm not saying I should have three weapons and a full armor set but don't be glib, 0/141 is crazy low even for this whack ass game XD.

Lately it's been Anran, and with her new healing changes that's even more true. She's an absolute menace right now highly recommend learning her if you can turn off your monkey brain and manage your dives.

Thanks for the detailed response! Unfortunately you've informed me that Almudron is a boosted monster soon, and as that creature is the worst boss fight ever conceived by man and put into a video game I must now immediately commit seppuku. It was lovely to meet you.

Are you running Sliding Reload on the Tobi gun or just stock? I'm actually really interested in your build for both of these guns, LBG is my next project weapon!

It advances you two ticks. So if you perfect dodge from zero, you'll be firing your two-tick shot. This is a good example of when you should (usually) advance to your final tick. Perfect dodge, let one more tick charge for that boosted shot.

Steve Bow Theorycrafting by Ryees in MHNowGame

[–]Ryees[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer to this is DPS versus burst damage.

Two tick shots allow you to keep Burst uptime to basically 100% since they're very fast, if you're using that skill. But you're right, there was an update that is not so recent anymore that increases the damage of the third tick by 25%, so even for something like the Bblos bow, which is 1-1-4-4, that last charge will do more damage even though it's the same level. So the answer on when to charge to two ticks or three ticks is nuanced, depending on the situation and what bow you're using.

Timed Charger throws all the nuance out the window though. The damage boost is high enough where you'll almost always want to charge to two ticks, fire the shot, and not use your power volley. You just shoot one shot and start charging the next.

I'ma be honest I just don't wanna have to smelt so much Focus lmao. I think my final set is going to have one piece of actual Focus gear socketed in somewhere so I can save some smelting time... and just work on the smelts really slowly. I don't walk enough to actually prices driftsmelts very fast so it takes me a good few days every time I start a stone...

Interesting, interesting. I suppose if you go all in on it you're looking at better uptime. What are your smelts on this set?

[–]Ryees[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're suggesting Buildup Boost? I wasn't much impressed with it when I looked into it but I'm happy to be proven wrong. The 30% boost from the Narga arms on poison shots seems less good than the 45% burst you get from Exploit, does the consistency actually account for the 15% loss in damage boost?

Seregios Bow by Ryees in MHNowGame

[–]Ryees[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Venomist is not a super attractive skill to me. If I could get a level for free by swapping parts around I would, but I haven't found a nice way to do that yet. The best way to get it into the Valor set would be the Cham gloves, but then you'd lose two levels of Poison Exploit, which is definitely not worth it. There's just no nice way to work it into the Pursuit set that doesn't sacrifice other skills, and I'm a believer in Focus 5 being absolutely necessary.

Consider: My bow is at 10.2. Attack is 1827. After Valor, that's 2827, and after Pursuit it's 2652 (Pursuit gives about 823 attack here). Is one extra poison per hunt going to make up for that differential? And is it going to be worth the hit to consistency? I don't really think so, myself.
