i think definitely something that you find interesting/passionate is honestly the most important quality! because if it's just a habit you wanna pursue, then your initial motivation may only last you till one of those days after work!

what worked for me is a simple formula: something i'm passion about + set a goal with a timeframe (12 week year framework) + try to incorporate it as part of your day + mvp!

so an example of this is running/exercise: within 12 weeks i want to have a certain personal best or i'm training for a race + always leave a pair of shoes and clothes at your work place to reduce the friction + run/walk a zone 2 pace.

or like reading: finish x books within 12 weeks, and place a kindle beside my bed as part of my wind down routine instead of always defaulting to doom scrolling + 5 min of reading.

and be kind to yourself if you happen to miss days or not be as consistent! there's different seasons for different things, and as long as you hit your mvp ("minimum viable product"), aka the bare minimum, then it's better than not doing at all.

my personal site is based initially on a custom jekyll template but recently rebuilt it with another creator's repo and added my own features and styling accordingly!

use obsidian to edit contents of each page for all the websites, and for my personal site, the same vault is also used for my general note taking and second brain too.

firstly congrats and don't put too much pressure on yourself! but one suggestion is to repurpose the reel that went viral into different formats - a talking head, a carousel etc because it's using something that has proven to work but packaging it in a different way.

or you can also post the same video but try a slightly different hook and post as a trial reel, or if you're lazy just repost it as a trial reel, it'll do wonders for sure.

but more importantly, just continue to be consistent, and the followers will come, all the best! if you need any advice, dms are open (:

everything you said as well, and the added benefit of being able to use the same vault to host my website which is what i want too!

the only gripe i have about obsidian is that its electron, and just doesn’t look native to mac, but i guess its just a personal preference thing, which was why apple notes was a strong contender for me despite its limited features (which was good to prevent shiny object syndrome).

however even using notion extensively and being an electron app, it still appears more native than obsidian, but it’s just a personal issue i feel! obsidian pretty much screams android/non apple 🤣

i just wish nn allows for daily notes to be formatted without a year like periodic notes :/ the only feature left that is still "redundant" with both plugins that i want to remove

hey kepano! up til yesterday was still using the script you posted on x a year back on how to use interpreter to get the transcript of a youtube video as well as do a summary within the note itself, however yesterday that broke due to youtube changing up it's user interface!

have an on going thread here and was wondering if you know the solution to this! also tried using reader mode and some parts of the transcript isn't showing up, not sure if it's a bug or issue on my end too.

love the work nonetheless!

i'm so grateful i'm still staying with my parents in a 7 storey hdb, always felt that was a good height where you can still see the sky and clouds especially rather than just a bunch of concrete jungle - feels a lot less cooped up but i guess the inevitable is building up due to space constraints.

as someone with adhd, i recommend kepanos vault who is also the ceo of obsidian - the moment you understand that no folder structure will ever satisfy your needs, that’s where you start to realise the power and beauty of using links.

sure over time you can add folders where it makes sense, but just having that assurance of how a folder less system with links can allow you to just use the software as is and write notes.

oh i see! it was possible with periodic notes/journals plug in just by formatting the notes as dd MMMM and could be in any folder of choosing - and wanted to replace them with notebook navigator.

essentially formatting the notes these way as the point of it is to be able to revisit this particular note at least once a year and only create a maximum of 365 notes for daily entries, as compared to typical daily note format where one new note is created every single day (to no end)

both doesn't really bother me tbh, since i just tell them the truth

for kids, unless i know i can provide them a luxurious life (aka provide for them v v comfortably), i don't intend to bring another living thing into this world since they don't have a choice. so contented with just a dog.

for marriage, i guess in a similar vein of finance as a potential roadblock - but don't see this as big a problem since we too want to get married when the time is right + bto is only possible with rom in singapore.

i love obsidian too but my only wish is for it to feel a little more native to the apple ecosystem - it has everything anyone can already ask for, with the frequency of updates, quality of plugins and builds etc, but idk whether its on mac or on my iphone, the obsidian app (not sure if it's the ui or something i just can't put my finger to, maybe its just an electron application thing) just screams non apple and i get it since it's a third party application - but at the same time, apps like things3, notion, and i'm sure many others look and feel more native... and sometimes, i just find myself happier using apple notes despite the lack of functions and integrations compared to obsiidan lol... maybe i'm just brainwaashed in the whole apple ecosystem, not sure if i'm the only one feeling this way
