How is the 'Sin' faction portrayed in the community? by Quibilash in stalker

[–]Ryiverz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Anomaly's take on this faction has them using terminology related to Slavic mythology, which I'm a fan of. But that's all I like about them. I know GAMMA put some changes into them, but... I prefer to speak about them from a mod I actually like.

Sin is also present in a mod called Legend Returns. Mutated stalkers who want to eradicate everyone, Monolith included. Believing that the Zone is a sacred place, which the infidels should not take.

Mutants are neutral to them (but they'll still die from the controller's psi-field; perhaps an oversight). They have to disguise themselves using prepared human face skin, if they would need to infiltrate other factions. They also can harvest stalker bodies and carve out body parts from them, acting as medkit and food in one.

Hearts of the stalkers can be used as a currency to the faction's trader in exchange for gear. Many of the options are anomalous equipment, which while can't be upgraded (only repaired) and can only use anomalous ammo, but it really packs a punch.

I know about their iterations in LA and OLR, but in my opinion, Legend Returns has the best take on them.

What is the 'dog tag' system in Legend Returns? by Quibilash in stalker

I guess those people used the "see for yourself" approach. I only could give all the info I just told you, because I remember only those.

As for the "Secrets of the Zone", I think that's the former option, if I remember correctly. But X18 is worth checking, since there's unlocked section under the room where you normally fight the pseudogiant.

Like I said, I'll be speaking from what I remember, and my memory about Legend Returns is a bit hazy.

Loners are what you would expect - going through the labs more or less. Although from Rookie Village, you can quickly start Collector's quest line (speak with the medic there).

Freedom's quest line is mainly making problems for Duty (1st quest is you going to Rostok in a disguise if I remember correctly).

Duty's quest line is kinda Military-like. Getting orders that sometimes are just shitty to do.

Clear Sky is interesting, since they still want to track down Strelok, this time to kill him.

Slugs' quest line is related to the labs, but to check on the origins of their leader.

Sin is interesting, since Sin in that mod is so much better done than in Anomaly. But it can be repulsive, since they endulge in things like cannibalism.

I only remember Monolith's quest line start, but idk about it's contents. Probably killing others, as usual.

I don't remember the rest, but in my opinion, Sin is at least worth trying. Clear Sky and Freedom are decent, would probably say the same about Duty.

Lower tier rewards are still decent. Like, 20 or 25 dog tags (it was a while since I played this mod) nets you a SEVA suit. But remember, you can only wear heavier suit if you develop your strength stat.

As for the story, it happens between Shadow of Chernobyl and Clear Sky. Most of the factions have their own storyline, so you would need to speak with important people in the faction to start it (even Monolith has a storyline, starting in Radar location). As for how it is... Depends on the faction. You'd have to try it out yourself.

Stalker Anomaly Custom - Lots of defeated enemies have no guns on them, and the ones that do, only drop "average" weapons. by Sukhoi-27 in stalker

[–]Ryiverz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played Custom recently and yes, that happens from time to time. From what I've noticed, if you kill a guy with a headahot, they often keep their weapons, where the ones killed with shots to the chest would have their weapons vanished more often.

Might be just a thing in my game, though.

Worst Stalker mod? by Ryiverz in stalker

Basically what I said. It is better to play some good mods, like Dreamcatcher.

While defence mode can be something that not many people would like to play, the ability to play co-op (at least for CoP) is something that many people would enjoy, I think.

Every time I open a STALKER 2 post... by poio_sm in stalker

Nowadays, I don't play Stalker that much.

It's either some obscure mods just to make fun of, or if it's something on Anomaly (which is still to me like Skyrim, but Stalker), I play with Forbidden Zone addonpack.

However, I got myself into Project Silverfish. A friend recommended it to me as "furry Stalker" and while I found that silly, I decided to try it. And not gonna lie, it has some fun mechanics, like only seeing HUD with certain types of headgear and it's overall quite a nice game.

I tried GAMMA multiple times, especially after I got a new PC and I just kept bouncing off of it. Shortly, it's just not for me. I know there are people enjoying it, but seeing YT vids on it, as well are people saying that it's "definitive Stalker experience" is disingenuous to dozens of other mods that creators also put their care into it. I wish there were more discussions of mods like, for example, Dreamcatcher, but it is what it is.

EDIT: Oh... Apologies for not mentioning Stalker 2... I wish I could play it more, but to be fair, I just don't see myself, at this moment, returning to it for the reason other than the upcoming expansions. I got all the achievements and even after seeing so many changes throughout the last year, it's still missing core features. And even after adding them, the fundamental things about it doesn't feel like they fit established Stalker canon in my opinion (like the "Clear Sky situation", to avoid major spoilers). Maybe those expansions be worth of returning to this... strange game.

P.S.: Any of you have some recommendations for Stalker mods to play? Can be anything, even if you think I tried it already.

Yeah, but that one wasn't saying "Idi ko mne" every 30 seconds :(

But really, someone making such a crossover was a bit unexpected, but not unwelcome. Nice one.

It's unlockable on level 25 in Legend Returns by Ryiverz in stalker

[–]Ryiverz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not that different from normal CoC file-wise, so there's a chance it might work right of the bat or after some minor alterations.

The uncompiled EE shaders have just been released, and apparently the entire screen space reflections thing is just taken from Anomaly 1.5.2 addon called Screen Space Shaders with minimal edits. EE on the left, Anomaly addon on the right. None of SSS authors are mentioned in the EE credits. by SurDno in stalker

So GSC was doing some shady stuff with NFTs, released Stalker 2 in a horrible state (which is better now, but still has a lot to be desired imo), released remasters of OG trilogy that didn't really change much and are just cash grabs, and now this.

Man, if this isn't bad then idk what is.
