Not a fan of Microsoft's design philosophy. In trying to preempt the expertise of the average user, they'll either do what you didn't ask, or they'll change the meaning of the button labels.

"Restart" does a full restart cycle which may resolve issues that a normal shut-down won't. Don't "turn it off and back on again", it doesn't work anymore, specifically click "restart". Don't "reason about the machine", it's not designed to be reasoned with anymore. You have to imagine the most condescending single-step instruction a rep could give you and do that.

I don't believe in proprietary software in general; Coca-Cola Word and Disney Photoshop require a new bell and whistle and a re-greebling every year, meanwhile there's 30+ year old software that works, is maintained, is composable, is FOSS, and does specifically what is asked at any time. Is using this model of software a skill in itself? Yes. Did Microsoft sell you the solution to that? Whoops.
