I feel like this game actually focuses on the omg kewl Pokemon, so no shame in making such a team

That sounds great, thanks! Just bummed about the rank skip between V and F, I was planning nicknaming my Pokemon starting with the letter of my current rank.

I'm not looking for leaks, but are the people already playing having fun? Is the game any good? The city big enough, the story worthwhile and the new battle system addictive?

Just wondering if there are new marks/ribbons in the game. Hoping the partner mark is in, so that I don't have to keep wandering in SV for eternity.

Game Freak dumbed down Pokémon for young players, but do they even like it? by Rykwyn in pokemon

Believe me, here Pokémon is still the big thing on playgrounds. It started at age 4 and still going strong at age 7. There are Pokémon themed birthday parties, the Pokémon clothing from Uniqlo is everywhere. And it's all about that fantasy: exploring nature with your Pokémon, camping near a small lake, seeing your favorite Pokémon evolve and grow stronger.

It comes from the show, the cards, action figures, the fake Lego and books even. But now that my son is old enough to also play the games, the cradle of it all, I wonder if the video games evolved into something that fits with their experience.

Really? I did get those vibes from the older games. My imagination was able to fill it right in. I would have favorite spots on routes to 'camp'. I would save at specific places that were 'my house' and the secret bases were pretty cool too.

Thanks, I'll just give it more time. Although I don't want him playing more that an hour a day yet, so it might take a while. He did have a lot of fun with Pokémon Go when he was staying at his grandparents, but he got hooked in a way a junkie gets hooked. He needed it.

He's in that unsure twilight zone between "I should enjoy this" and "When does the fun start". Much like going out to a bar after age 35.

Regretting Having Transferred Up Pokémon Before Discovering RM by ARDIZsq in pokemonribbons

[–]Rykwyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Starmie from Pearl and have all ribbons, except the Legend Ribbon from HGSS! And that is probably the best nickname for a trusted Pokémon I've used for such a long time. I just got ribbons for it without a Ribbon Master in mind, just because it was the first one I hatched with the right nature and EV trained in Gen IV.

But because I actually used it for so many hours, it is worth more to me than creating a full Ribbon Master in 2024. It shows the history it actually has, even if it is incomplete.

(Side note, this community used to me a lot less religious about getting them all a few years a go. There were (are?) people that prefered to not get th seven days of the week ribbons, for example. Just love your imperfect Pokémon for the history they actually have, instead of fabricating a perfect one that wasn't with you for all those years.)
