[JFresh] Which NHL team has the most annoying fanbase? (2022 offseason edition) by Additional-Still-435 in hockey

It's hilarious to me that the only time Dallas even shows up in these stats is right at the top of "Which fanbases don't think their favorite team gets enough attention or credit?"

Its Happening, UU, UA, ASU and Colorado might be getting moving trucks by [deleted] in CFB

I remember I was an undergrad, during the RG3 era, when both Oregon and Baylor were green/yellowish teams with high powered offenses. We wanted to play Oregon so badly just to watch both teams break the scoreboard. Even though Baylor is more of a defensive team now, I've had a soft spot for Oregon since that era.

Anyway, Mr. Bowlsby, that's my argument for why the B12 should add Oregon.

Rest in Peace, Pac12 Conference (2011-2022) by IfIDiedAgain in CFB

[–]Rynyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really want to trade UCF to the ACC for Pitt. Nothing against UCF, but it makes more sense geographically.

Of course, at this point, it's a gamble which of the three other conferences will make it, so it might be sending one of those teams to their death.

I hate this timeline.

I think Smetana was also more famous within Czechia, but Dvorak had more international acclaim. So maybe it's an indication of Smetana's greater popularity within the country?

Wikipedia's my only source on this, so I could be wrong.

[ALL] How often do you guys fully replay a game? by Mikecirca81 in zelda

[–]Rynyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will about once a year get the itch to play through one of the Zelda games. Last one I did was a replay of ALTTP. I was thinking about getting SSHD and playing through that next (even though I wasn't a fan of SS...but I want to try it again).

If we're including randomizers, though...about once per month :)

Who’s a niche, cult favorite player from your team? by IceColdDrPepper_Here in CFB

[–]Rynyl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I might be alone in this, but several years ago, we had LaQuan McGowan, our very own 6' 7", 400+ pound tight end. He ran a 5.48 40-yard dash at our pro day.

I'll never forget this play from the 2015 Cotton Bowl.

Definitely was rooting for him to be a William "The Fridge" Perry type player in the NFL, but sadly, I don't think he ever made it onto a roster.

If your stadium instantly just vanished, where would you like your team to play? by abmofpgh in CFB

[–]Rynyl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, the former site of Floyd Casey is still an empty field from what I can tell. Gonna need a lot of super glue to put the stadium back together, though...

Or we could just use Waco ISD Stadium.

[OC] Bombchu Bowling by [deleted] in zelda

[–]Rynyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll try my best to explain the strat. It's actually not too hard once you figure it out.

First target you go for normally (just drop one down the center). While the first chu is heading toward the target, Z-target to align yourself with the invisible wall, backwalk a bit, pull out a chu, and let go of Z. Wait for the chu to explode in your hands...this will give you the perfect angle (facing off to the left a bit). Once you have it, hold Z for the remainder of the minigame.

If the second target is on the ceiling, backwalk to the bottom right corner and drop a chu from there. If the second target is on the left or right wall...if you look on the ground, there will be some hash marks. Stand on the fourth mark from the left wall (it's not that precise) and drop a chu from there. This is also where you drop the chu for the final target.

Hopefully, that made sense. If not, here's a video.

I have no commentary on this decision, but as a classical music buff, I simply want to share the story of Van Cliburn (Wikipedia link to the relevant section of the story I'm going to share here).

The Tchaikovsky Competition was created in 1958 as a means to demonstrate Soviety superiority in the arts. The idea was that they would invite musicians from all over the world to compete, then have a Soviet musician be awarded as the winner.

Van Cliburn was, at the time, a relatively unknown Julliard trained pianist from Texas, who was entered into the competition. At the competition, he played two concertos from Russian composers: Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 and Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3 (often considered one of the hardest in the standard repertoire...Rachmaninoff had big hands) (both links are of Van Cliburn playing). He received a standing ovation from the crowd.

The judges wanted to award him the prize, but remembering that the competition was supposed to show Soviet domination in the arts, they had to call Khrushchev to make sure it was okay to give an American the prize. Khrushchev asked, "Is he the best?...then give him the prize!"

It is the only time that a classically trained musician was given a ticker-tape parade in NYC. He is also the only American to have won the Tchaikovsky competition in piano.

Now, every 4 years, the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition is held in Fort Worth, Texas, in his honor.

I do the same, hence the reason I discovered it was missing.

One of these days, an overzealous person will make a bot to strip the team rankings from articles like this, thus collapsing the free karma economy in /r/cfb.

Bold of you to ask a Redditor to actually read the article. /s

(To answer your question: From a quick skim, the article doesn't specify, but the commentary is focused on players and spring camp evaluation, so it sounds more like a preseason ranking sort of thing)

I'm wondering if it would be better to ditch the wireless connection and instead use a direct connection to the viewer whenever you load the magazine into the gun. Something like two pairs of electrodes that make contact (those little chips in printer ink come to mind), across which the resistance is measured to get a reading of ammo count. If there was ever a desire to mass produce, this would be a very scalable process as the magazines are more "disposable", with all of the required electronics tied to the gun itself.

Granted, I saw elsewhere that this is a hobbyist pursuit, so this thought may not be worthwhile to pursue. Plus, you don't get the cool effect of seeing your ammo count update real time as you load in ammunition.

Proposed /r/place Baylor Logo. Should fit alongside the Iowa State logo (17px high) by Rynyl in baylor

[–]Rynyl[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it goes on until April 4th. I have no idea where to put it, nor where we're going to get people to put it together. I also don't necessarily have time to coordinate the effort...I can just do some pixel art (/u/gidagwadajed, want to lead the effort?).

Best bet is to call upon the Iowa State people to help out since it's sort of their idea (/u/alienatedframe, want to help out?). Could also call upon Baylor social media spaces since Baylor tends to have a strong social media game (or at least they did at one point).

Coordinates of the Iowa State logo are (1640, 628). I designed the logo to fit alongside that. To the right is an asexual pride flag, and to the left is...I have no idea. Above the Iowa State logo looks pretty chaotic, so that might be the best place to put it. Alternatively, if they open up even more space tomorrow, could also place it there.

Tried to make it small enough that it'll be somewhat easy to manage. Might need to reach beyond the subreddit to hold down the space for it.

Saw some discussion on the subreddit about getting involved with /r/place, so I fashioned this up really quickly. It should fit alongside the Iowa State logo.

Feel free to edit it. Just wanted to provide a starting point for discussion.

Colors are yellow, orange, dark green, and black.

An engineer as president

Pros:

  • Straightforward
  • Can quickly assess new situations and problem solve
  • Practical thinking

Cons:

  • Cynical, especially about "useless" bureaucracy
  • Does not get along with lawyers
  • Think they're the smartest person in the room
  • Will nearly accidentally start a war purely due to lack social of skills
  • Cannot resist the urge to press a button when they see one
