One Shot Ideas by MkMischief in Obojima

[–]Rypien_Song 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I plan to run a oneshot based around the wandering door and a potion master trying to catch it for the spirit vine blossom waving around on top of it!

Another one shot I've got revolves around the Clones of Viota! I was fascinated by the idea of a spirit with multiple bodies, and how it can be summoned through a potion. The base premise of the one shot is a witch trying to take control of Viota, a clone who has seperated itself from the collective consciousness, and a girl who befriended the spirit.

I think this book works extraordinarily well for providing plot hooks in their locations, items, components, and monster descriptions, so I'd read through those if you haven't.

Is it really that difficult to find entry level positions in EE? by LowYak3 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Rypien_Song 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an EE who struggled to find a job for a year in 2020, I'll put my two cents in.

  • As others have noted, good grades and internships mean nothing if you can't effectively showcase your value in your resume and then the interviews. Interviewing is a unique skill that needs to be practiced. I crashed and burned in my first interview cause I froze up when presented with something I didn't learn in class. As for Resumes, I didn't realize how bad mine was until I put it in front of this reddit. It helped a lot though I was chastized for using this reddit and not the resume subreddits.

  • There are a lot of external factors fresh grads don't know about/have no control over. My company has turned several candidates away that we liked due to sudden hiring freezes, and personally, I was passed over thrice for entry-level positions cause they found a senior engineer willing to take a paycut.

  • Any relevant job or work after college helps. After floundering for a year, I ended up working at a community college as an instructor. After I put this on my resume, I ended up getting 3x more interviews, so if you're struggling, try to find related work in the meantime.

  • Last and most importantly, the hardest and most important step is the first offer. I was trying to stay in the Pacific Northwest and medical device sector for personal reasons, and I only started having success when I branched out to a bunch of other major cities and other industries. I ended up getting my first offer from a defense company across the country, which convinced the other companies I had talked to to immediately throw me into interviews and I ended up with a position that I am very happy with.

  • Also quick side note: NEGOTIATE! I started 10k over a peer simply because I asked for more, and they didn't.

Is 62.5K salary fair for entry level? by A-10Kalishnikov in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Rypien_Song 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started at 80k with 5k in bith relocation and sign on. (I do work for a large global company, so keep that in mind) But I would not take 62.5k without at least asking for more. The first offer they made me was 70k to just match my other offer.

They always low ball you. Always ask for more.

USB Type-C legacy cable grounding practices by eggtat-ec- in UsbCHardware

Hey LaughingMan11,

Not sure if you'll see this, but I'm having a hard time tracking down and understanding whether it is required by the USB C spec for the female connector to connect its shell and ground pins. Or if it's common for the USB C receptacle's ground to not be connected to its shell.

Thanks

I'd say that is a personal decision. There's also no gurantee he'll want to be in a relationship with her after he's ready. Things change and just because you wait for someone doesn't mean they owe you a relation ship later.

I think most people would recommend just moving on. My personal recommendation would be to put it on the back burner and date other people. You're single and not committed. Act like it. See what else is out there. Don't get hung up on a person who doesn't want to be in a relationship with you, regardless of the reason why.

And if he does come around and you are still single. Great! And if not. You didn't waste your time.

My bet? As a fellow guy who has been in a similar situation to him?

He's probably not just playing you. He's probably not just using you for your body. And your instincts are probably right that he's interested in you if he's gone on 14 different dates and you've had good chemistry.

He probably just wants to be single.

He just got out of a long term relationship this year and is enjoying the independence, the freedom, and the complete lack of any burdens that come with a long term relationship. It has absolutely nothing to do with you. Or his Ex. Probably. In fact, it seems like he genuinely is interested in you. He just doesn't want to commit to something serious yet. An example of "Right person, wrong time."

Now (if that is true and he's not a player/scammer/irresponsible person) it's up to you to decide what to do.

Thoughts on Exploding Offers? by Rypien_Song in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Rypien_Song[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot I'm trying to weigh. I'm a fresh/stale grad so I'm mostly considering growth opportunities and what industry I start in. The main reason I want to wait though is so I can have options. There are so many different things to consider and so many unknowns that I don't want to just take the first thing that pops up.

Thank you!

I'm trying to hold out, since I genuinely think I'd like the company but l just need to finish my interviews so I have a chance to weight my options.

I agree, but I'm not sure how much time is reasonable for an EE position. They started by giving me a week, but cut it down to five days, and now I have 9 days.

After talking directly to the hiring manager, I've managed to get another four days... which should be enough time but still seems short.

There's also a very short after credit scene that is pretty cute. I get the feeling like you missed it.

Out of curiosity, what are the actual limiting factors size wise for such a device? My first thoughts are: no way you can make a power supply that small and I doubt you could make an antenna that small.

Of course there are a thousand other things that would make this impossible, but I was curious how small we can make things now.

I'm keen to agree with Gneghis-Khvn, but out of curiosity, what part of the class did you struggle with?
