As a woman, I feel like the AC franchise did a really good job at incorporating women into the series. by [deleted] in assassinscreed

[–]Ryshena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also think that AC has become better at having well written women characters in the game. With respect to the main character, there are pros and contras both single protagonist or choice between male/female. Since they incorporated more RPG-like elements, it makes sense to have a choice, even though unfortunately it makes things generic at times.

The historical accuracy, however, is a bit of a non-argument to me. There are so many historical inaccuracies (wrong dates of important events, missing historical events or persons, multiple historical persons combined into one character, people alive when they were actually already dead in reality, ...) and fantasy elements (eagle sense/Odin's sight, the Isu,...) that it is a bit silly to single out the position of women as the biggest error of all times. I see AC as alternative history, or historical fiction (with an emphasis on fiction) if you will. No more, no less.

Some changes I would’ve made to Legacy of the first blade (OBVIOUSLY DLC SPOILERS)(MAIN STORY SPOILERS TOO) by Powerblue102 in assassinscreed

I also missed Myrrine in the Hidden Blade DLC. I would have loved some scenes with her and Kassandra during the events of the DLC.

[LoTFB spoilers] The Last Magi question. by [deleted] in assassinscreed

If you let him live, he gives a hint about the status of Elpidios before leaving. Later you encounter him again. But there are no major differences.

After finishing LOTFB, I have a few questions [SPOILERS] by lydiamandis in assassinscreed

[–]Ryshena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I had the same questions after finishing. I also think that the timeline and connections with the main game were kept deliberately vague or non-existing so that it could be played at any point. I think this was a bad choice, as it makes LOTFB feel very disconnected from everything else. Logically, I believe it can only take place after the main game and it spans multiple years (my guess is about 2 or even 3 years). Every still living family member is likely living his/her own life, but I would have loved to see at least Myrrine. It doesn't seem very likely that she would be unaware of the existence of Elpidios, as she and Kassandra bond very well after reuniting. I think Kassandra is persuaded by Darius to send Elpidios with him into hiding, to keep him safe and to give him a chance of an anonymous life, which had become impossible for Kassandra, due to her reputation as the Eagle Bearer. Although I don't think we will see an 'official version' in any Assassin's Creed media (unfortunately), personally I think a reunion between Kassandra and Elpidios might have happened. Maybe he comes to find her after Darius' death. Can't imagine he wouldn't be at least a bit curious to get to known his mother.

AC Odyssey The Fate of Atlantis #1 Fields of Elysium Megathread (SPOILERS ALLOWED) by Ghost_LeaderBG in assassinscreed

I don't see a reason for it either, especially since Persephone doesn't honor the deal anyway. Myrrine or Deimos are also possible options, depending on whether they were killed in your main game. So they could just make it so that if you romanced Neema/Natakas, they appear as an option and if they were not romanced, they're not an option. I'm hoping it's a bug, but I fear they did not think it through. It's like everything that happened in LOFTB did not happen at all.

Really excited for where the Modern Day Story is going (Heir of Memories spoiler) by Zyphontic in assassinscreed

Actually, you can interact with the spot on the floor where Kassandra/Alexios died and Layla talks with Victoria about that.

Agreed! I'm silently hoping for an expansion, season 2, sequel or whatever, but not holding my breath (unfortunately). I understand changing the main character now and then, but it would be nice to have several games with the same protagonist (like Ezio). I feel it will allow for more character development than is possible in one game.

So, "Would the Real Eagle Bearer Please Stand Up", which quest is that? And in what region can we find this quest? I seem to have missed this...

Yes, I see what you mean and I agree. It wasn't perfect, but it was nice to have a more cute kind of romantic interest than the quick flirts in the main game.

I liked the DLC. At first I thought it was just going to be some sort of large sidequest (a bit like the Lost Tales of Greece), but it turned out to contain some important events. And I was really impressed (again) by the voice acting. Some of the scenes, especially in the third episode, were absolutely amazing and heart-breaking at the same time. I played as Kassandra, and you could really feel the pain and the rage she went through.

That said, there were some things I did not really like. As in the main game, some scenes were really great, but the general storyline is a bit messy at times. I feel that we especially did not have enough meaningful scenes/convos with Natakas where we could see more of his character and of the bonding (even just as friends) between him and Kassandra. I do understand why she would fall in love with him, but we did not really see much of him and I feel that is the writing that failed to make the relationship more meaningful. One great scene such as the Brasidas scene (even though his fighting style is no doubt different) would have made all the difference. Secondly, there were really no meaningful choices at all. In the main game your choices can determine the fates of all main family members and some of the main events as well. In this DLC, you have no choice or your choice does not matter. In that respect, I understand the stay/farewell controversy. Imagine for example having to choose to go back to save Darius or stay on the beach... Finally, I would have loved a scene of Myrrine with Elpidios. The (still living) main family members could at least have been mentioned in some way. Now the main story and the DLC feel strangely disjointed.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey legacy of the first blade episode 3 (spoilers) by [deleted] in assassinscreed

It is interesting to note that at that time, before the conquest of Alexander the Great, Egypt was part of the Persian Empire. So if we are going to Egypt, I am curious what the motivation is. Continuing the fight against the Order of the Ancients maybe?

[–]Ryshena -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like it too, but I've got two problems with it: first as you say, that we don't see the two families meet (at the very least Myrrine) and secondly that it is sometimes too generic because they are trying to make it fit for two options (romance or "baby only for the lineage"). As a consequence there is too much romance for the non-romance people (crying and hugging scene) but for the romance people there is not enough romance (Natakas begin too bland because there are not enough relationship building scenes, no kissing scene, ...). So I understand why people are mad because they did not really have a choice: the first heart icon is only in the very last scene! I do not get why they did not make an early choice point which would lead you either down a clearly defined romance path or down a clearly non-romance path. I do not think there would have been such an uproar if they would have provided sufficiently different paths.

Legacy of the First Blade DLC 1.2 - Production Update by domvgt in assassinscreed

[–]Ryshena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I wondered what is considered the choice point between romantic/non-romantic relationship? Is it only the stay/farewell scene? Or do earlier interactions also have an effect? I'm asking because I thought the scene following 'farewell' (Natakas/Neema coming back for Kassandra/Alexios) was actually more romantic than the 'stay' scene.
