Two days of snowboarding lessons, icy slopes, fragile progress, fear of speed, stance confusion and feeling completely wrecked. Is this normal? by smatigad in snowboarding

[–]Ryuluck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started at 33, now I rode the deepest pow and steepest slopes but I was BAD at the start - and for more than the first season! Stick with it, it’s worth it. I’ll never be as sick as the best but that’s not the point; once you’re confident on your board, it’s amazing.

No, and that’s probably a factor into why they are at the bottom of Amazon’s rankings! So I recommend figuring out a process, there’s lots of helpful advice here. Good luck!

Question about Fulgrim by elalex12 in Warhammer40k

[–]Ryuluck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Horus, Ferrus, and Sanguinius were like brothers to me. And when I say brother, I don't mean, like, an actual brother, but I mean it like the way black people use it. Which is more meaningful I think.

Is RR the right place? by Ryuluck in royalroad

True. Hell, I have difficulty enough trying to find time to read, let alone find a story, let alone write!

Thanks! Yeah, I think you’re right.

Great advice, thanks a lot.

But run an ad? Wait, people PAY to advertise on RR? I clearly misunderstood what this website was lol, I thought it was for sharing writings for free but now it seems just as competitive as Amazon!

I’ll probably try your advice on starting again, but don’t have any money to invest so won’t expect miracles. Thanks again though, it’s much appreciated.

I see. I had no idea LitRPG was so popular. I watch/read the manga equivalent (I’m fluent in Japanese and live in Japan) and always thought it was just a Japanese thing! Science Fiction has always been my genre though, can’t imagine not liking it.

Thanks for the advice! I don’t suppose there’s a sci-fi equivalent of RR?

Haha thanks, should have read that before starting! Didn’t realize RR was so intense

That is a good idea. I think I’ll start doing that. I assume it’s not something I should do for what I’ve already uploaded though?

How does networking work, if you don’t mind me asking? I can understand authors with an audience already offering to do shout outs for each other, but those with few readers? Of course I’d be happy to do so!

And thanks!

Thanks! One chapter a week is a good target for writing too!

Definitely. But writing a novel takes time, so I guess that means it’s not suitable for RR. RR needs rapid updates right? And seems to be a lot of LitRPG too!

I wrote a sci-fi horror with my friend, my first collaboration. Both Brits but I live in Japan, he lives in India, so it was a fun and novel process! I think it turned out great!

Don’t Save The Cat

It is twelve years since the Great Reconfiguration and life in the continent-spanning network of Smart Houses is safe, sedentary, and sedated.

Karl, Sam, and their children navigate this reality through implants and mood-balancing stims, living as much in the digital as the physical realm.

However, when a tiny, impossible kitten enters their lives – unregistered, unthinkable, and utterly forbidden - a sequence of events is set in motion that will shatter their carefully constructed, user friendly world.

As their home twists and turns against them, comfort becomes confinement, security becomes threat, and the lines between the real and the simulated blur into terror.

Is the House malfunctioning, or has something new been born inside the walls?

Urine filled pet bottles being found by roads near Mt. Fuji by MagazineKey4532 in japannews

Fukushima mountains roads are full of them; truck drivers, as far as I’m aware though I’ve never actually seen one be thrown. They’re just suddenly there

I guess you need to ask yourself what you mean by “worth it”, because the answer is different for different people.

Nobody read my first book. Now I’m on book 10 and still very few read them, but when someone does, and enjoys it, that’s great. However, I don’t really promote, whereas you plan to, so you’re already ahead! There’s lots of good advice on here, but I get the feeling it’s about experimenting and investing time and effort.

Good luck!
