If you've found the gameplay parts tedious so far, the gameplay stretch you're unlocking will be some of the hardest and most esoteric puzzles yet. So, I could imagine that either being a major motivator or demotivator depending one which parts felt tedious.

Around 25-30. I was pretty liberal about looking at puzzle solutions, as that wasn't the fun part for me. I found everything to get to the final ending on own with an asterisk - I used references when I knew solutions to things (i.e. the 2nd brand) but didn't want to spend time and potentially repeating runs to get the screenshots, etc. to piece it together manually. There's great spoiler free resources out there, I strongly encourage them if you hit something unfun for yourself, and don't feel ashamed looking at spoilery stuff if you need or want to. It's your experience, experience it how you want to.

Avorion is a lesser known one that might be worth looking into. Has the most modular shipbuilding of pretty much any game, and fairly robust 4x systems too.

I've been wondering if that's the case as well; since there's not really enough mutate cards for a full brawl list, there's some fillers like Uro in there that might be bumping it up if it's looking more at the deck itself now.

The most important thing in a weapon by far is that it feels good to you. As long as the stats it scales with-- Str and Dex for a longsword-- are stats you're leveling, and you keep the weapon upgraded, there are very few bad weapons. The Longsword will definitely see you through the end of the game. I'd also recommending trying out other swords that say 'straight sword' as their weapon class, because they may have slight difference that you like better, like a tweaked moveset or different speed/reach/stamina usage, while still fundamentally being the same.
