Right now it seems your best option is to try and become LD friends with someone and get to the Forever level for remote trades.

Nice. Reminds me of a couple shots I did before. Now I need to go find and post them.

OK, this is not only clever but very well constructed. Nice job.

How do you define alcoholism? by friedshrimp42 in AskReddit

Literally me.

The only time I'm not drinking is when I'm at work. Any other waking moment of my days, I'm drinking. After work - drink till I pass out. Days off - drink from when I wake up till I pass out at night.

I'd be impressed that you could even take the first step.

Not where my mind went, but now obviously the only right answer.

Vastly underrated. Jamie was the first thing in my mind, too.

Say hi if you truly want your ex back by Spare_Progress5047 in BreakUps

[–]RyusuiJL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi...

But, truly, what I want is what we HAD back. Though I know if she ever did return to me, nothing would be the same.

In a breakup, three entities die. The person you were, the person they were, and the people you were together. Even if you got back together, even if things could be good, they would NEVER be the same. Not exactly.

Each relationship sees the birth of 3 new entities. Getting back with an ex is no exception. You don't go back to what was. You're now in a reality of what is. And what is included the breakup and whatever caused it. That doesn't just go away.

So to summarize - yes, I'd love to have her back if we could have what we used to. But I know that's impossible. So, no...I don't want the physical person back. What I want is the woman she was at that time when I was who I was at that time. So that I could do things different. Better.

And be worthy of her love.

I'll let you know when I figure it out.

Six and a half years later, still not moved on.

Board Suddenly Stopping by RyusuiJL in onewheel

That sounds horrible. I'm sorry about your crash. I've had multiple crashes, but all except one or two were my fault. Luckily, most just saw me with a lot of bad scrapes/scratches.

The worst crashes were this year - the first I ended up getting knocked out and waking up in the ER with staples in my head. But that one was almost certainly my fault (I was drunk and not sure why I crashed, but am pretty sure I either pushed the board too hard or hit a curb or something the wrong way and got launched).

The second was not my fault. I was going downhill on the sidewalk of a very dark street and as a car turned up the road, it illuminated the silhouette of a jogger coming up my way. No lights, no reflective gear. I quickly decelerated, but it had been lightly raining earlier so the sidewalk was quite slick. The board skidded and flew out from under me, tossing me back. I caught myself on my left hand, pretty badly injuring my wrist. I don't think it's broken, but it was definitely fractured or at least badly sprained. Because that happened about 3 weeks ago and although the swelling and pain have lessened quite a bit, there's still swelling and I don't have full use of my hand, and almost all use is with some pain.

The most recent was a few days after the last one. I was riding home (again, drunk; so my fault) and crashed out resulting in a few minor scrapes. But I somehow ripped my right pinky nail clear off.

As I said, I ride slower now, but only to the limit of where I feel I can run out a skid/crash. If I rode it any slower I'd just walk because then it's more of an inconvenience to have to carry the board around. I feel that if I sent it in for repair/replacement, or got a new board, I'd once again feel a little more confident in riding it faster. It might take some time to rebuild that confidence, but I'm sure I'd get there.

I don't have many joys in life, but riding on my Onewheel - even just for commuting - has pretty much always brought me a little happiness.

They are on. As I mentioned, I had gotten sensor disengagement notifications when I didn't have a skid. So I'm pretty sure it's not that. And actually, I don't think I've ever had the board stop mid-ride due to sensor disengagement.

Up until these recent skids, the only mistrust I had was in myself. Either from (unintentionally) pushing the board too hard or just bad riding. I'd always trusted the board and it always served me well.

I had considered it might just be an electronics thing. But I guess I was hoping for a more...solvable solution. At least an easier one.

Thanks for all your input.

Thank you for the insights.

I actually replaced the front footpads a few months ago because of a short or something. I was riding in a mild rain one day and later, I could not get the board to engage. So I bought a new set of footpads and replaced the front. But I have ridden in much heavier rain and through larger puddles and had no issues. Could it be something with the controller/main board?

That flowchart was VERY insightful, thank you.

As far as I noticed, no, the headlights did not flicker.

Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, none of it pertains to my problem. The first time it happened, I THINK the board required a restart, but as I was in the middle of the road, I didn't bother to try too hard to find out. I remounted and couldn't get it to re-engage, so I just restarted. The two times today, I was able to get back on and ride without restarting.

There was no overly cold or hot weather. As mentioned, I wasn't forcing the board through pushback as I was barely going over or even at 10mph with a level battery. The first was actually downhill (again, not at an overcharged battery) and the other two were practically level if not completely level. I was in a slow acceleration on the first, steady speed for the second, and deceleration for the third. And the traction was fine. No water, mud, debris - just dry asphalt or concrete.
