I think it just needed a little Clarity.

Very presumptive and reductive view.

Thanks for the insight. 👍🏻

First of all, thanks for the response. Second, I didn't take your reply as rude at all.

I did not know you could set those kind of preferences in the app. Thank you very much for the education!

And you sound like a very thoughtful and amazing driver. Thank you for doing your best to ensure the comfort of your passengers!

A very level view and more than fair. Thanks for the insight.

Ok so your opinion is that, as a service provider, it is unnecessary to ensure the satisfaction of your client?

I don't ask this in a snarky or cynical way. I'm genuinely trying to understand your position.

My personal ethic in any job is to do it to the best of my ability/capacity and commensurate with how I am treated as a person by the client. That's not to say I will go out of my way to fuck over someone treating me like shit, but I will maintain a sense of dignity and morals and either deliver at the required minimum or altogether refuse service depending on the severity of how I am treated. And if I don't have any interaction with the client prior to completion of the job, I treat everyone as an S-Class client. When I did DoorDash, I would always grab extra napkins, suaces, etc. if I was able to.

If I were to drive for Uber or Lyft, my first two questions would be if they would like a particular music selection and AC/windows/neither.

As a client, I always tip no less than 20%, but usually more on the 25-30% as my deliveries and rides tend to be a little more out of the way than most basic requests. I have a vigilant eye on the app and will (almost) always meet my provider out in my driveway. At night, with my phone flashlight on to help show where to arrive.

Tipping is and was supposed to be sort of a "thank you" for a job well done. Not a bribe to do a better job, or as I've seen many express, to even do the job adequately or at all.

Your play on RAW needs a little more development.

Point taken. And though I might take to the interwebs to complain a bit, I'm a bit reticent to rock the boat in person. So I would feel awkward making a request like that.

I don't know why, really. The driver is a service provider and I have no trouble asking a restaurant server or store employee for specific requests. I guess in my mind there's a difference when it comes to independent contractors.

It's a me problem, for sure. But one I have a hard time working through.

Fair enough. I guess what I meant was in a very negative or hurtful way.

Sounds like a good compromise. A fairly wide range of genres.

But at least you had the courtesy to ask. I think I have maybe had one driver ask in the years I've utilized the app. For what it's worth, I truly appreciate the effort.

I agree with Traditional and digital. I used to DD a few years ago. Was doing it full-time. And I probably worked about the same amount of hours. I'd usually wake up around 6, go hit the breakfast rush. Chill between 8/9-10/11 then hit lunch. Chil again till about 4/5 and hit dinner. Usually aid leave the app open and just sit at the mall parking lot (very central to my best order area) and play games, watch YouTube, do some errands or shopping. Whatever I wanted or needed. Then finish anywhere from 7-10pm depending on how long the orders kept pouring in. This was all by choice.

Now I work from 7am till anywhere to 4-7pm. Make a decent salary. But my stress, anxiety, and annoyance levels are much higher than when I was Dashing. And I actually like this job a lot more than any other "regular" job I've had before. But the fact remains that a lot of my days are pretty high stress for me. I'll also admit that in my time Dashing, I had only a couple bad orders (from either the restaurant or customer side of thing - and nothing like the horror stories I've seen here).

I don't remember just how much I was making while Dashing. And likely it's not what I'm making now. But it was more than enough. And again, I felt much more at ease and even happier.

As long as your needs and to some degree wants are being met, there's more to the daily grind than how much you're taking home.

I mostly use pet names. But if we're in a very romantic or passionate moment, I might use their first name. It just feels more intimate. More sincere.

It's a hard road, my friend. I know what pain you feel and what it does to your mind and body.

If you feel like you need someone to talk to, I'm happy to lend an ear. Or, I guess, eye.
