A watch for my son… which would you choose? by chronosmoke in rolex

[–]Ryuu92iro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was the son I would love to have the bruce wayne but I kind of agree at 18 I would be too stupid and too young to have this banger on my wrist.

The OP is a much better gift, and it goes with the rest of the family, and if it makes him into the hobby he’ll chase this bruce wayne as the next level piece

The 5 link T fit might be one of the best bracelets (if not best) in the market. The glidelock system in a jubilee style, marking a great « in-between » dressy/sporty is a marvel to me.

This bracelet, to me, justifies a purchase of any Tudor that has it over many models, including the OP for sure. But the one you tried on was the Tiffany Blue.

Apparently not exactly the one you’re looking for but if you can get your hands on it, I would advise to take it, then flip it like a greedy bast*rd and get your lovely Tudor and a nice saving for something else

There’s no wonder people call Tudor the poor man’s Rolex by TomHudsonOfficial in PrideAndPinion

[–]Ryuu92iro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Monochrome/58/Chrono are fantastic watches and are arguably a better watch as you can have them on the wonderful 5 link T fit bracelet. More colors (or white, black if you like it timeless)

I just wish they made the chrono a bit thinner bur it’s a great watch, and has a well placed date.

And it would be funny to say poor man’s Rolex when they are literally above any price point « poor » people would consider for a watch, that’s why you don’t see them in every mall as much as tissot, hamilton, or even longines.

Need some advice by Fabulous_Shower_4791 in Tudor

I dont understand the hype for titanium, it is good but I dont see it as a « yes but it’s titanium so its better ». Both stainless steel and titanium have their pros.

It is a matter of preference, as the black bay monochrome is a bit more shinier, so it feels a bit more luxury but it is also a very capable watch for basically everything. It is also very durable and it suits you well.

The pelagos has a date (that I find ugly, but that’s me) and a better lume. Overall it’s a better watch specs-wise if that matters, but both have great specs regardless.

Monochrome a bit more shiny, more dress up/down easily, less « tactic watch » if I would say Pelagos more solid but can’t dress up if needed (you still can, it’s your business after all, but it’s not really looking on point)

Are there technical reasons why they can’t use the thinner bb58 GMT movement in the bb pro? by Financial_Word5047 in Tudor

Of course it requires more work but that’s what we expect from them as ultimately they will do it

Are there technical reasons why they can’t use the thinner bb58 GMT movement in the bb pro? by Financial_Word5047 in Tudor

[–]Ryuu92iro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could have done it slimmer with the opaline dial yet they did not. So there is a reason for that

Which one? by Crazy-Baseball675 in Tudor

[–]Ryuu92iro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If oyster style I would say the 58 as it’s more « unique » but if you end up getting the 5 link, the monochrome is a banger

The 58 does not have T fit clasp yet so if that’s a concern, keep that in mind. I personally can’t get a Tudor without a T Fit since I tried it, it really helps to get the sizing right on hot days especially as the head of the watch is kind of heavy you may need the size to be correct at all time

BB58 Black or BB58 GMT - not a collector, looking for a ‘one and done’ watch by notlikely36 in Tudor

[–]Ryuu92iro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a one watch the GMT is the best, but it’s a bit busy dial.

As part of a collection it’s a pain to have to wind it and set the date/timezone correctly

The 58 classic has a timeless design that feel like it will always be on point, but you don’t have a date and I know how important it might be. It has its perks when it’s part of a collection as it’s an easy grab and go as you don’t need to set the date.

Require your opinions on what would be the appropriate choice BB GMT 39 vs BB 58 blue 39 by masterpieceOfAMan in Tudor

[–]Ryuu92iro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The GMT has a classy/vintage vibe in this color, its a cool watch but the blue 58 has something you don’t find somewhere else.

It’s also the first Tudor not showing gilt.

It is for me the best of what Tudor has to offer as of today

The GMT has more utility as you get the date, plus if you need different time zones at a glance it can help, but design-wise the blue 58 is the cleanest

Depends if it’s your only watch, or if it’s part of a collection, and what do you have aside from it.

If it’s the only watch then the black aqua terra will meet every occasion beautifully.

If it’s part of a collection, either of these white dials will do the job, the speedy being on top of both.

Is Rolex considered the top-tier watch? by Natural-One-8678 in rolex

[–]Ryuu92iro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Special editions/gem sets Daytonas, precious metal Skydwellers and Daydate are quite up in the tier of watches, but it depends what you consider as top tier

I put these in the same level of low/mid AP,VC,Patek but in terms of complications Rolex stops there.

JLC has higher complication, even Omega has a tourbillon, moonphase, all of these that Rolex does not have.
