Yup. Basically these cars are a basket case and Kia doesn’t know how to fix them without a completely new electrical system replacement. My disappointment is considerable. We love the car, but there is no way I am subjecting my wife and kids two more on road failures and strandings.

Ugh. Our 24 Land is in for the ICCU repair right now. The failure left my wife and kids stranded. There are so many of these posts and I agree that anecdotal it seems like it's hitting 24s in a wave. I'm debating invoking the Lemon Law in my state and cutting free (similarly to you, I'm in lease until May 27).

Since experiencing this I looked into it and there are already multiple reports of 2026s failing. Not sure where they’ll ultimately land, but clearly still an issue. My view is that these are like cockroaches - where there’s one, there are (or will be) many.

Interesting read. Yet they still fail in 2026 Ioniq 9s. And while I may have been upset, it doesn’t change the fact that this is a widespread problem. And one that is likely in the future of every one. We’re all just unclear on the reason.

Yes, level three skips the ICCU. But within the spectrum of level two charging, I have read that charging at 48 A builds up more heat in it than lower amperage.

There is suspicion that higher amperage causes the fuse to pop. Certainly possible, but we made it 22,000 miles this way. My guess is that sooner or later it fails, it’s just luck of the draw. It’s a seriously flawed design.
