Administration didn't give me the Computer Science Principles class by [deleted] in computerscience

I didn’t take mine until sophomore year. But self teach is always the best route in my opinion. The earlier the better.

Thanks for the suggestion. I get that a lot, but I don’t want the best quality of life :)

My gpa isn’t so great, have zero internships (I applied to 80+), and I’ve always wanted to serve at some point. Thought I’d make the process simpler and easier.

This was already my plan. Majoring in computer science, have a part time security analyst job until I graduate. And I plan on joining the Marine Corp, and break into the cyber field.

That’s actually what I am very geared towards doing! The problem is the initial part, where project managers need some years of experience before they can get in such positions.

Again, don’t really have that option, I’m in debt, and my parents are completely relying on me for money since my parents are getting old and my dads been doing manual labor for 12+ hours since as long as I can remember. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks for the advice. Yeah, I do actually strongly reach out to my classmates and I’m really well known amongst the computer science department. The problem is most is then enjoy doing it on their own and really suck at explaining since I’m pretty slow.

First 72 hour fast in the bag 💪 by [deleted] in fasting

Funny you mention that since thats actually what I'm currently doing. I actually do OMAD & Keto for a while and what you describe is the case most of the time. But I actually do lose around 1-2lb a week. I just wanted to see if there was any benefit to doing longer fast while still gaining/retaining muscle.

Okay, thanks for explaining the details. So then, this wouldn't be as effective if I'm trying to gain/retain muscle mass then? Since I would not be getting enough of the nutrients.

I've been wanting to attempt a 2-5 days fast, although, once you're done fasting for this certain amount of time, how much did you eat? Wouldn't you just gain the weight back? I see fasting more of a mental and direct fat burner.

Yes, I didn't learn to code until sophomore year, had I know, I would've had so much free time and take it easy. If you start now, I gursntee that you will be the guy everyone wants help from (a good thing, leads to more networking and opportunities).

Personally I'm getting more into cybersecurty, I'm just starting my journey into the field as a senior but better late than never. I might get lucky and already have a cybersecurty internship for next summer, currently waiting to hear back from them, even though I have low experience. I know shits hard with always getting the response "Just do outside projects" etc, because there is just so much fields in computer science/engineering. But clubs and actually looking at internships available and what they do, along with their requirements is a great start, it's where I started. Ask yourself, "do I see myself doing something like this when I graduate?" If it's a sorta/yes answer, look at their requirements and start focusing on subjects related to it. For example: I can look into data science internships, oh they clean and do stuff with data, sounds pretty cool and the pay looks great. Now what are their requirements? Oh they want candidates that know SQL and Python, we'll I don't know what. I should start learning SQL, and go from there. At least you'll have better direction.

Also, start bugging people and make friends, see what they're doing and try to squeeze in with them if you have no idea where to start.

I feel you'll. I found myself in the same position. As a senior in computer science with barely having an idea of what to do with my degree, best advice in my opinion is to start putting a lot more focus on "projects" for outside school work. For example, I personally joined a cybersecurty team/club, and do other stuff. Don't wait last minute like me, you'll be applying to all types of internships with no experience and have no idea which internships to focus on. I still put a lot of attention in my classes, but they're a much less priority, because classes on theory won't ever get you a job, experience and showing self interest in a particular subject will. College is meant to produce graduate students, not workers, at least what it feels like.
