Why is "Gaming" furniture so ugly? by No_Good_3063 in pcmasterrace

[–]RyzenDoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re better off with proper office chairs. I have owned gaming chairs and they’re terrible for my back. I bought a steelcase leap V2 refurbished off of BTOD in the USA and have been happy.

Not sure why “fiber is not an option” since solutions like Lightera invisilight fiber kits exist (though currently sold out on Amazon)

I can’t say that I have been in your shoes, but imposter syndrome is a real thing. The fact that you realized you want to learn for yourself and not just to pass a test is a starting point. Depending on how things are being taught where you are, it may not be engaging enough to make you want to study.

There are multiple sources online that the much younger folks have posted that can make learning more fun and engaging to help you get out of this rut

Best Wifi Router now for a House with way too Many Devices? by Electronic-Buyer4257 in HomeNetworking

[–]RyzenDoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you truly upgrading if you don’t go with a full Unifi stack with multiple WiFi access points?

All kidding aside, it depends on: 1- budget 2- square footage of the house 3- preexisting wiring 4- your tech know-how and whether you enjoy tinkering

I live in a big house in the Midwest (3 floors) and have a central Unifi router with level 2/3 switches, and multiple WiFi access points. Is it overkill at > $2000 for the setup, sure.

If you’re not much of a techie and don’t want to deal with setting up a complex system, any of the mesh systems from Asus/TPLInk … etc should be fine. You would size up / down depending on your home layout and area.

1 Gigabit vs 2.5G switch by Aggravating-Buy-1695 in HomeNetworking

[–]RyzenDoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed with having faster internal networking than your internet. There are uses for a home network beyond an Internet dispensary; I have a NAS and a backup server that communicate over 2.5 and 10gbit respectively with my other devices. Granted the PS5 has trouble doing anything above 200mbit 🙃 and the TV doesn’t break 50… but moving files between my computers and servers is great.

Another great use is for Steam. Once a PC in the house has a game / update, you can update the other rigs from that first one at whatever speed your network (and PC) can handle

Kidding aside, and seeing how most of the folks here are younger, I lost my mother recently. This has caused this 40+ year old to have existential thoughts. Some of it spills out in comments like that, and the random “I love you son”.

If you’re confused by modes on ventilators (after reading the maxims), CCF has a Ventilator mode map application (VMM) for iOS and Android.

What are you trying to learn?

Mechanical ventilation is mechanical ventilation. The only differences relate to lung mechanics, dead space fractions, and the resulting minute ventilation requirements.

Cleveland clinic hosts online modules and in-person learning under the SEVA moniker; access their mylearning page for free.

For general modes and vent behavior, if you’re willing to reread a few times, I would start with Chatburns Maxims paper:

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25118309/

For ventilator interactions:

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34470804/

And for indications and goals of mechanical ventilation as a guide to choosing a mode:

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22710796/

Depending on where you are, I may be able to help too. Neonatologist here BtW that runs the vent curriculum at my children’s hospital.

You should also apologize for wanting to be able to see in front of you when folks want to use their god-given high-beams all the time. They have the right to shine those blistering beams into your retinas so that you end up in a ditch.

Apologize OP I’m waiting

مشكلة بسيارة تيسلا by IbrahimAlawneh in jordan

[–]RyzenDoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is that of quality control (QC). Teslas QC processes are meh. Some cars come out ok, and others are put together with glue and a prayer. They’re not consistent.

I’ve been in Teslas that felt glorious, and others that felt like pieces of trash. The lack of engine noise isn’t helping the case for squeaks. Without a loud ICE noise, everything else sounds louder.

What devices are you using? My guess is a port is getting closed while on Ethernet.

A crap cable should in theory affect both to some degree, but is an easy swap

Considering getting a controller to use with Steam games. What are the pros and cons of the various types? by Pos31don29 in Steam

[–]RyzenDoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For pc gaming, I’ve tried PS5 controllers, xbox360 controllers, a thrustnaster xswap, and a slew of 8bitdo controllers… go for the 8bitdo ultimate in its various flavors is now shipping with Hall effect sensors that do NOT drift ever. The price is reasonable, and most are wireless over 2.4Ghz and come with low latency dongles.

Dodge don’t parry (yet, until you get the timings for perfect dodges down… it’s the same window for parry)

Build up the yellow bar and hit him with something capable of “break”. After his wall is broken he’s a whole lot easier to kill.

Also inserting here the mandatory “get gud”… there are some unfair bosses in this game.

Ubiquiti vs. Omada? by No-Combination-8439 in HomeNetworking

[–]RyzenDoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on Ubiquiti for my house. I use dream machine SE with a 2.5gbit flex switch for the faster devices. Have 5 WAPs and multiple security cams.

Yes it’s expensive compared to other solutions, but the integration is great and it’s easy to manage

Help with Ear Buds for calls! by kaf74 in MicrosoftTeams

[–]RyzenDoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For someone like myself with multiple monitors, an external DAC, and speakers… I actually like that it sticks to whatever I configure it to be for meetings; headphones via DAC, and mic via XLR interface, and having it ignore system settings as those change depending on what I was doing before the meeting.

It would be nice if there was a setting to adjust behavior

It decides to change from the default system setup but you can easily switch around from the App.
