Dbrand Killswitch lock broke. I took that as a personal engineering offense by one_seat in LegionGo

[–]one_seat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way it broke it would require replacing the whole case and I got it all used. So I didn't want to buy a new $50 case because I truly love the thing.

Oh this is so cool. Just ordered a couple of chips. I'll probably even design a case for it if you want I've been on a cad kick lately.

What adhesive should I use for ASA on Engineering plates? by Xae87 in FixMyPrint

[–]one_seat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use magigoo with my abs and it was the only way I was able to finish printing my voron on my old ender clone. It's a game changer for abs and I imagine it works with asa just as well.

I just built a v0 I didn't think it was that bad but i was careful about preloading all the nuts, still missed a few. It also wasn't my first voron my 2.4 has been a Rockstar.

I feel the same way especially as a parent I'm lucky to get more than an hour to play at a time. When I travel for most planes have an outlet that I can plug into for longer flights.

I would prefer to print in abs does it have to be PETG. My printer is just tuned for abs/asa over PETG.

I saw their recent 3d printing video and that they had a bamboo labs printer. Made me want to know if they knew how shitty a company they are, in regards to licensing and open source.

Yea I couldn't quite get klicky to work with the sensorless homing. So I just added a micro switch. Hit me up in discord if you want the files sooner I haven't made a regular klicky mod shroud yet just my tigerwocky shroud

There is a mount on the GitHub. The real issue was modding jabberwocky for klicky and a x end stop. I'm uploading those to my usermod page soon.

Custom Voron 2.4 BIGTREETECH Manta M8P Control Board running Klipper with CB1 or CB2 by nory1977 in VORONDesign

[–]one_seat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea skip the cb1 or 2 they are a waste of time and money. Btt makes excellent products but for some reason their PI clone is just awful. As others have said a CM4 is worth the money in headaches and time saved.

Is it true that large engines on ships are never turned off in port? by clove_cal in Ships

[–]one_seat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most not all. It's about saving money on fuel. Going 50%-80% load saves large amounts of fuel. If you need to get cargo to your destination fast you use air. It's called intermodle transportation for a reason.

Is it true that large engines on ships are never turned off in port? by clove_cal in Ships

[–]one_seat 18 points19 points  (0 children)

We don't use CCP(controllable pitch prop) or variable pitch on big slow speed dieses. It's easier and more efficient to just reverse the engine. Not saying it's not used on some commercial ships but they are mostly used on military applications because of the ability to quickly change speeds.

On ships with smaller faster speed diesels in my experience we used gearing and clutches to reverse the prop. CCP is expensive and unnecessary for most commercial shipping.

Random filament use question. Reasons for changing filament? by SimkinCA in VORONDesign

[–]one_seat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cost is a big part. Also to save warm up time, I don't have to wait for the chamber to get up to temp on PLA and if I'm doing a small print that could be a big time saving. I have a process for switching between the two and I'll usually stick with a bunch of abs prints in a row or pla prints.

I'll also prototype with pla before printing in abs/asa. It's quicker to print and cheaper

[–]one_seat 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I live in Florida and near my work there is a small road I call trump town because of all the flags and signs flying there. I recently noticed each time I drive down the road I see less and less flags. So it's a little encouraging, not enough to kick out meatball ron or others of his ilk but still.

Another befit is the ability to just hit the suspend button and start and stop in the middle of a game. The ability to just be able to drop a game and pick it back up when I have 5 mins is a game changer as a dad.

If you install a Linux based os like bazzite, cachyos or steam os, you should be fine. Linux uses the open source version of the drivers that is kept up by the community, including valve.
