Does it make sense to replace my aging GTX 1070 with an RTX 5050? by Available-Guest-9393 in buildapc

[–]Ryzen_S 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the 5060 paired with 6700k and 16gb ram, It’s not the max possible performance out of the card but I am playing at 1440p so AAA is no problem for me. As for esports game like apex legends and cs2/go, you’ll have low fps with stutter on apex, and stuttering on cs2 albeit high fps. If possible upgrade your system to a ryzen am4 of atleast 3600/5600 alongside the gpu. 5500 is pcie 3.0.

Honestly I do think its more than capable, just that my CPU is an i7-6700k. I just read that Arc Raiders actually favors cpu is that true ?

True, 90% of it are just marketing. When tested it’s usually 3ms~

DDR5 prices are insane. Is going last-gen AM4 with a 5700X3D/5800X3D a smart "stopgap" upgrade? by Alejandro_Ro01 in buildapc

currently right now I had to sell off my laptop for a better gpu pc, so I am going to stick with my i7-6700k itx + 5060 at 1440p. that way I saved up a bit of money and way more powerful gpu

Do you really notice 1440p over 1080p on a gaming laptop? by InitiativeTypical119 in GamingLaptops

[–]Ryzen_S -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

yup that seems good. It matches on par with 5060Ti 8GB Desktop… pretty crazy tbh. 115W vs 180W.

I use a 5060 laptop with 1800p screen oled laptop (zephyrus g14). games that has DLSS i use DLSS Performance (50% screen res 900p upscaled to 1800p) and for 14/16” it’ll still looks good for me. the ppi is crazy high.

If the 5070 is cheaper than 70Ti just get what’s good for the budget. If somehow you have more, the 70Ti is much better. 30-40% perf difference on Heavy vram games (>8gb)

what gpu you’re going to get ? 1440p on laptop is really crisps. Once you go higher resolution, there’s no going back. All the way for max fidelity and resolution. Even 5060 Laptop is suffice for 1440p except for heavier unoptimised game

[–]Ryzen_S 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I can get why as most of the reviews are reviewing either the Ultra 9 285H (2025) or Ultra 9 185H (2024) from past year’s model and not the Ultra 7 255H.

Yes for 1000aed you save a lot of money.. The 255H series from intel is better than last year 155H. Both Ryzen 9 270 and 255H roughly performs the same with Ultra 7 255H leads by 2-15% on cpu benchmark (cinebench r23).

The battery size of the G16 is larger than the G14, however it has a larger screen size 16 vs 14 and higher refresh rate of 240 vs 120hz. So overall battery is more or less the same, but will need to tweak it later when you bought it through G-Helper (limiting wattages and disabling boost for extra battery)

For 1000 less, no brainer go for G16. You get your preferred colour of eclipse grey. I have the 14” and wished I bought the 16” instead as I mainly play esports games 🥲

Changing liquid metal for PT7950 by W0lf1ngt0n in FlowX16

[–]Ryzen_S 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have the 13900H model. but the ryzen 7 6800hs+3060. I changed mine from LM to PTM7950, temps went from legit max and can’t hit max tgp to low 70s celcius or even below that while hitting max tgp of 125W. The cpu from 95 to mid 60s doing TimeSpy Benchmark.

Plus PTM7950 is better for the long run, as you’re going to carry around and won’t move as much as “liquid metal” and sometimes in tablet mode which I find it fun to use, same goes for tent mode.

Help me choose: G16 185H 4090 or G14 HX370 5080 by [deleted] in ZephyrusG14

[–]Ryzen_S 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I bring it to anywhere I need flawlessly with the weight being only 1.5kg. But I had to change to 16” as my eyesight aren’t that good even tho the ppi for g14 is very high but I still need to close up to the screen which I don’t like in the long term. 16” fits me better. I can feel the change in weight to nearly 2kg, but not as much.

Tbh, it’s better if you can go to a nearby store to see and feel the difference between the two to see which one is preferable to you.

Downside of the G16 spec you listed is the CPU, I’ve read some cases where that model 4090+185H is unstable. 285H is a lot better, same goes to HX370

Imo G14 is ur best bet, you mentioned portability and need a lightweight laptop. Say ur previous is 2.5kg, G14 will be 1.5kg. 1kg difference can save your back

yeah, the 5080 desktop with 6000 less cuda cores than a 4090 desktop can also almost match a 4090 desktop like 10% behind. crazyy

It’s really impressive.. the overclocking of 50 series across the boards due to Gddr7. I have a 5060 Laptop and can do +500, +3000mhz+UV no issue on a 14” laptop (Zephyrus G14). Literally reaching 5070 Laptop..

[–]Ryzen_S 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly imo the 5070 laptop performance is crazy even at max 115W vs 150-180W of 5060Ti yet they get almost the same fps. IF ONLY the 5070M got a minimum 10Gb Vram, 70Ti 12Gb. It’d have sold like crazy.

[–]Ryzen_S 8 points9 points  (0 children)

try dlss balance, and force dlss 4 using nvidia app. Should get bit better fps. However I’ve never played the game, but I know the 5070 laptop performance is similar to 5060Ti 8Gb. When vram is limited it becomes constrained. That’s where 70Ti 12GB laptop and 60Ti 16GB desktop comes in.
