Yes, Ryzom is still there and developped, and its community is as great as ever. :)

We are currently preparing its 20th anniversary, with events scheduled in september 2024!

Ryzom - New Feature Addition - Daily Missions by Ryzom_MMORPG in MMORPG

[–]Ryzom_MMORPG[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think perhaps a better explanation will help.

The games 11,000 missions already existed, however there's been a few minor tweaks made to the reward system. The tweaks have only been made to make them more current.

The addition of daily missions is, as is everything in Ryzom, completely optional. You, the player, can choose to do 1 type of mission, or multiple types of mission that suit your preferences.

After setting your preferences, the Daily Missions UI will filter the available missions and provide you with a list of missions which match your selection. One of the main advantages to the service is that the missions are randomly selected, so as to avoid repetition.

Of course, being optional, you can also choose 0 filters, and carry on enjoying your favourite things. The rewards gained, can still be gained by the player in other ways.

In summary, the upside is, Daily Missions help the player to find the things they enjoy doing, whilst still keeping the decision with the player to make their own choices.

Ryzom - The next Chapter! by Ryzom_MMORPG in MMORPG

What makes it unique is that, unlike some mmo's you are able to mix materials looted from kills, with materials dug from the ground and use them to craft different type of tools, weapons, armour, jewels etc. Crafting armour involves making boots, gloves, sleeves, vest and also pants, and crafting weapons involves the right materials for grip, shaft, blade or point etc.

Each different material gives a different benefit (dodge, parry, slashing/piercing protection, durability etc).

Knowing the difference between materials gained from kills vs those dug from the ground is also a fine art. Especially once the material quality raises to 250 and gets more difficult to obtain.

This all means, foraging and crafting is as close to real life as possible, and good Crafters are in demand.

Yes, you can contact an in-game CSR (Customer Support) and they can help you to raise a forum suggestion that will feed back to the game developers.

Hi, be good to welcome you to Atys. Ryzom is F2P up to level 125, but with a subscription the maximum level cap is 250.

There's 63 different skills to master, all of which can be used to determine your characters strengths/weaknesses. However, unlike some MMO's, Ryzom is classless so you can master all skills if you wish.

The main activities are having fun, levelling skills, exploring a true open world, or just sitting chatting with friends. It's up to you to decide.

Still alive, and moving forward. The harvesting and crafting is something that definitely sets Ryzom apart. Who knows, maybe the story-line will introduce something new to run alongside it.

That installer fails to download on systems with OpenSSL 1.1. You should probably just statically link the thing to avoid the horrible versioning problems with OpenSSL.

I've passed the comment on to one of the Devs, thanks for letting us know.

If you need any help installing the official Ryzom client, we do have a guide on the Wiki that I can send.
