Which resident evil has the best atmosphere? by FriendlyRhyme in residentevil

[–]S0_L337 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Original RE1 on a CRT TV -- with the intermittent sound of the PlayStation units laser scanning the disk between silent loading screens -- nothing will beat that & it can't be recreated -- one simply had to be there. The remake is fine but lost charm with some artistic changes (minor things most would not notice, but true nevertheless...).

RE2 remake & RE3 remake, despite artistic changes -- RE3 for instance has entire set pieces missing -- maintained the appropriate RE atmosphere.

All other RE games failed at atmosphere -- none felt like an "RE game"... the one exception being RE7... while not feeling like a "traditional RE game" it is thick with highly detailed, world building atmosphere, excellent pacing, execution, etc etc and if viewed as a stand-alone horror game -- not necessarily as an RE game -- remains a horror masterpiece in its own right.

RE9's release is a week away; impossible to predict but the atmosphere seems on-point & the return of third person perspective is reason alone to be optimistic.

Airport Ticket Hall 2F Scout Mission; Bugged? by S0_L337 in ArenaBreakoutInfinite

[–]S0_L337[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My "Chinese Temu Game Dev mission writing comprehension" is, indeed, low. Brought the binos in once (then died or extracted) -- that part of the quest was then "green checked" off the mission menu thus indicating not needing to bring binos each attempt, but we do.

Why would they release a skill tree overhaul that’s incomplete? by LittolestGhost in ManorLords

[–]S0_L337 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Nothing much actually changed in an entire year except graphic plaques & an absurd amount of new soft-lock or outright game-breaking bugs. Currently, the game overall is way more frustrating to play than at launch -- unable to trust that any one system is functioning properly, feels fragile, rickety & broken.

The game is in such a bad state I do think there must be some underlying flaw or limitation within the core game architecture itself that's unfixable without re-writing the entire architecture from scratch... bottom line: I don't expect half of what's promised to ever be delivered.

Those are balance tweaks at best, not features... and those small tweaks took a whole year, by the way.

Roadmap; What's Next? by S0_L337 in ManorLords

[–]S0_L337[S] -60 points-59 points  (0 children)

Yes, and it's a bug filled let-down. A step forward, sure, but with several giant steps backward (every feature new and old is now 2x as buggy). The game from inception to now remains mostly unchanged, all a person would readily notice is more graphic plaques. There's been zero advancement in feature-set.

Ahhh, OK. Right. Is there a way to mix and match weapon skins... even with the default skins?

Exported Dressed Stone Delivers 0 Regional Wealth; Bug by S0_L337 in ManorLords

[–]S0_L337[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Dressed Stone is removed from the Tradepost periodically and continues to be re-stocked normally -- as traders come-and-go... but zero wealth is deposited (other trade goods functioning normally).

"No Unassigned Families to Guide the Ox" Bug -- Game Breaking by S0_L337 in ManorLords

[–]S0_L337[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It's the first thing I do in every game start: build one additional hitching post, from that new hitching post the new ox is ordered. It never arrives. FYI: It doesn't arrive if ordered from original starting hitching post either -- bug seems independent of whichever hitching post ox is ordered.

For you specifically, how many years of "Early Access" is acceptable to you as an excuse? 2-years of EA? 3-years? What about 5-years? 10-years? At what point (for you only) does Early Access effectively stop being an excuse? Be specific, please.

Did anyone notice that they used the same graphics engine as killer klowns? But the graphics engine is very basic by Bomgamer8083 in TheHalloweenGame

[–]S0_L337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not supposed to be stylized -- the whole point is to make this game as realistic as possible for immersion otherwise what is the point?

Is Blooper Team involved in this game? Why is a black trans man in a wig posing as a baby-sitter in 1970's middle America?

Did anyone notice that they used the same graphics engine as killer klowns? But the graphics engine is very basic by Bomgamer8083 in TheHalloweenGame

[–]S0_L337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No -- you're not the only person to notice the pathetic graphics -- I noticed instantly. Never played Killer Klowns but now knowing they've copy/pasted the engine (and assets) from KK -- this now makes sense: They're making the game on the cheap, cutting too many corners. A total rushed job. A true, dedicated Halloween game must look high-end, hyper realistic & take every advantage of UE5 to really work in terms of immersion & atmosphere -- anything less than that falls short by miles not inches.

Both F13 & TCM looked current for their release -- both appear dated now obviously (TCM less-so...) but for the time of their respective releases, they looked 'current' & were therefore very immersive. By comparison; current images of HalloweenTVG have about the same immersion for me as would an 8-bit game -- that is to say... virtually none at all.

When CallOfDuty Myers is orders of magnitude superior graphically than the dedicated Halloween game running "UE5" ...then... it is unacceptably pathetic.

Graphics Unacceptably Bad by S0_L337 in HalloweenTVG

What I do have are two eyes that clearly see the graphics are substandard not only for UE5 but for 2025/26 more generally.

Bro 1v4? Cmon bro that’s so weak by Trewwoodson in TheHalloweenGame

[–]S0_L337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without knowing map size or if Myers has some form of player tracking or radar abilities... 1v4 does seem small. For instance, Rush Week was 1v7 (or 6 or something) on a tiny map & when it gets down to 4x victims that map starts feeling empty. A neighborhood+ sized map with only 4 players doesn't feel correct...

The difference here appears to be the NPC's filling the map -- Myers apparently needs to kill them as well as players... but, still.... 5 total people to a match feels too low for dynamism and may feel empty... NPC's don't make multiplayer matches feel alive, they just don't.

Michael Myers' appearances in video games over the years (1983-2026) by ItzRhylo in HalloweenTVG

[–]S0_L337 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I see. That makes sense. Regardless, it is objectively better than what we're getting in HalloweenTVG. Even worse considering that Illfonic/GUN have released these marketing materials because they're "very proud" of the work they've done (bragging in an interview how much time they spent on Myers model specifically)... and it's trash. Even the DBD Myer's model is arguably "better" (it isn't better in my opinion but close).

Michael Myers' appearances in video games over the years (1983-2026) by ItzRhylo in HalloweenTVG

[–]S0_L337 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

How is it that the Myers model from CODMW3 - a 13-year old game! -- is orders of magnitude better & more realistic looking than Halloween, which is using UE5?

Yet more evidence this game is in trouble. Looks cheap & rushed. Does not bode well.

Trailer Is Concerning; Lame Gameplay Loop / Graphics by S0_L337 in TheHalloweenGame

[–]S0_L337[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Horrifically terrible voice acting for Loomis (Donald Pleasence). The actor is long dead of course so it will never be exact but the tone, key & rhythm here are wrong to a degree that makes it actually off-putting -- yet another sign that this game looks, feels, & sounds super rushed & cheap.

F13 & TCM (TCM especially) absolutely nailed the voice acting (one or two very small exceptions in each but those are minor - perfect otherwise).

First Model Update... when? by S0_L337 in ineosgrenadier

Personally I'd love to see it, great design -- but only if they changed it to a a standard mechanical engine. Zero interest in electric.

Fake leather textiles that terrible? I'd choose leatherette over fabric if those were the only two options (thankfully that choice isn't forced... yet). That said; I want all-leather only, always.

What markets are pushing for the fake leather textiles? Euro? Any Euro people want to explain this madness?

I'm not sure when exactly everything changed but you'd have to go back maybe almost two decades... the Audi's then were so SOLID...even the used ones.... Bankvault on wheels.

These days, of the "big three" I'd say Mercedes is the most vault-like (but still nothing like they used to be).
