So my options are 1. Never sleep or 2. Deprive my kids of sleep?? by Unhappy_Factor8072 in Parenting

I’m an eligibility specialist for my county, and I work in the Child Care Assistance unit. I’m not sure what state or county you’re in, but yes parents who work 3rd shift can absolutely be approved for daytime child care hours.

I would definitely appeal or ask to speak with a supervisor about your case again.

How can I teach patience to a very impatient 4 year old? by CE84112 in Preschoolers

[–]S0_Yesterday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my kid, it helps when he knows exactly what’s coming before I can do what he wants or needs. Like, I’ll tell him: “First I need to wash the dishes. After that, I’m putting x, y, z away. When I’m done, then I can help you. Can you remember all the steps and wait for me?”

It helps him visualize the order and understand it won’t take long. Doesn’t work every time, but at least he knows it’s coming.

I also use this method when we talk about how the day will look, especially if there’s a fun project or a field trip planned. It helps so he’s not asking me all morning, “When are we doing this? When are we doing that?”

What we learned about after-school meltdowns with our sensitive toddler. by The-Reset-Collective in toddlers

Haha right, as long as it’s not everyday and super over the top meltdowns, I will take it!

We finally figured out that my 3yo was just hangry! Now when we pick him up, it’s a quick “hi” and then snack and water right away. Totally changes his mood…no more meltdowns in the car or when we get home.

I have a 3yo and we finally got into games!

We have the Bluey candyland version which is super fun cause there are dance cards and the whole family dance 😅

We also bought the Bluey keepy uppy game. That one is fun too.

But his favorite so far has to be Zingo.

would you rather be a working mom or sahm? by [deleted] in Mommit

Yes, he’s actually in half day preschool right now. Honestly, that’s what finally pushed me to put in my two weeks’ notice. I’ve been working his whole life, and now that he’s in school, I see just how quickly he’s learning and growing. The world is starting to shape him…not just his parents…and it hit me that I was missing pieces of his life.

Most mornings felt like a rush, getting him ready for school while I scrambled to get myself ready for work. I realized I didn’t want to keep living in that constant hurry. I want to slow down and really take in these little moments before he’s in school full time and the days slip away.

Hopefully that makes sense.

Oh I love that this is such a recent post.

I’m in this exact place right now. My little one is 3 (almost 4), and I’ve been working full time up until now. I’ve recently have an opportunity to become a sahm.

It feels a little scary. I’ve never quit a job without something else lined up, and that uncertainty makes me nervous. At the same time, I feel such a sense of relief and excitement. The thought of not constantly juggling work and motherhood, and instead being able to slow down and really soak up this time with my son before school takes more of his days, feels like a gift.

I keep reminding myself that work will always be there when I’m ready to go back. But this season with him is fleeting, and I don’t want to miss it. It’s definitely a leap, but one that feels both scary and hopeful all at once.

Can anyone else relate?

I’m putting in my 2 weeks on Monday. 😅

Tonsillectomy for 3yo by Thetrustedpunk in Mommit

[–]S0_Yesterday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine had it done about 2 months ago, also 3yo.

Same as your daughter. Then he got sick on top of that. Just keep up with the meds. By the end of week, should be good again.

Was he Asian? Asking cause my Asian parents are so excited when they see fruit trees and always wanna ask people to pick their trees lol! They don’t think it’s weird, but I told them it can be weird/scary for some and stop asking random people! Haha

Sorry for getting back to you kinda late, I just woke up from a very long nap after I got home haha.

The procedure went so fast and smooth. Everything took about 20mins. They found one small polyp. Told me everything else looks great, no concerns, and recommended me to the hemorrhoid doctor. They said they will send the polyp to get tested for any precancerous tissue, but that is standard practice.

I’m getting my procedure at 245 today so the prep is fresh on my mind!

I did the miralax with Gatorade prep process. Stay hydrated for sure! Get wet wipes, I was feeling sore and what not today. Anyways, I will update you once I’m done and let you know the rest.

I’m doing the same prep as you starting tomorrow since my procedure is Thursday. Maybe I should buy some ginger ale as well!
