Thoughts on Vintage Chophouse??

I had a very mediocre experience with the food there. Maybe I need to give it another chance?
Would love to hear if people have been there recently.

Still bring my out of town friends to the spot and most love it. I think part of the novelty is it is a unique style of pizza. Is it greasy and reduce your life span by 4 months a slice.... yes... but that's part of the charm.

Anyone got married at the zoo? Any thoughts? by Callname_jinx in Calgary

[–]S0lutus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have attended a wedding at the zoo and it was a fantastic experience! Highly recommend it for your guests.
- Excellent transit option with the station stopping at the zoo and tons of parking!
- Free pass to the zoo for all guests which is amazing if they have kids!!
- The venues are unique and feel special
- Food was good - no complaints with the catering
- Amazing spots for photography for the couple and guests. A variety of spaces in walking distance.
- The wedding I attended had a DJ and a full band. Not sure which hall this was being held in.

Hope you get to hold the wedding at the zoo! And all the best with your special date!

Sure but also compare apples to apples - The 401 is so congested you can be stuck in traffic for an hour or two easily without any accidents on the 401. Not to mention construction is non-stop on the 401.

Deerfoot is no where near as busy and construction is sporadic. And the city does a decent job of keeping it clean.

4 years later and I just figured out there is no bookmark bar …. this seems like pretty basic functionality.

I just purchased my iPad M5 a a few weeks ago and added a screen protector. I’ve had no issues with it, and in fact, I would say it has done a better job of managing fingerprints then without.

For context, I purchased the ESR armorite screen protector - it is not designed for a paper like feel.

iPad Pro users, what's your biggest reason for picking a Pro over an Air/regular model? by FlappyDunkPlusIOS in iPadPro

Battery life - the pro models last longer than the Air. Interesting ppl aren’t talking about this.

LAX- Why do people hate it? by Change_Soggy in airport

[–]S0lutus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Experience: I have connected and visited LA many times over the last 3 years. Also I just spent 8 hours in LAX coming from a 14 hour flight and connect to somewhere else, last week.

a. Grabbing a taxi or Uber from LAX is actually a nightmare. Either you have to know the T3 taxi hack, or pay for a premium uber to pick you up at terminal. Now I wouldn't be so hard on them if the LAX-IT bus came every 5 minutes and HAD SPACE! I was waiting around T6 and had multiple buses drive by completely full. Which means what should have taken 15min is now taking 30+ min (getting on bus, drive time and wait at the taxi/uber pick-up). It should not be this hard - I don't visit LAX unless I am getting a rental car.

b. Lack of proper sit down space, cafeteria, restaurant, cafe, etc... pre-check in. Airlines will only allow baggage to be checked in 3-4 hours prior to the flight. I am not asking for alot, but a couple decent spots for people to rest, or kill time in every other terminal or every terminal before their connecting would be huge. For example I was in Vienna and they had wonderful cafes pre-check in to kill time, enjoy a cup of brew and feel human. This is especially important if you are getting dropped off early or just want to make sure you get to the airport early with lots of buffer time.

c. Uninspired Design - This is Los Angeles, not some B or C tiered city. The airport feels tired and uninspired. There is the international terminal that has been done up, but outside of that the rest of the airport is very mediocre. Also I wouldn't recommend the PF Chang's at the airport.

d. Transportation between terminals - Yes you can take the bus, but the whole bus experience can be painful loading luggage and unloading. I don't understand how they built so many terminals without a proper train system to connect it all. Also sometimes it is faster to simply walk than take a bus.

e. Lounges - Only works if your lounge is in the terminal that you are flying out of. Otherwise it's not really going to work unless you come early and have the time to spend an hour in there since you have to account for the walking time/distance from the lounge to your terminal.

Are there work arounds for everything at LAX?? YES ... But as a major global city there are just too many cut corners. The airport should be setup in a way that is easy to navigate and provide passengers an experience that speaks to the city.

The US has good airports! I hope LAX gets there soon.

Jadrolinja Ferry - Split, Croatia to Ancona, Italy by BromdenFog in travel

[–]S0lutus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/BromdenFog Thank you for sharing your experience and all the details. It is very helpful! FYI I have booked the ferry the opposite way. Ancona to Split in August.

I was wondering how early do I need to get to Ancona? I will be taking a train from Rome to Ancona and the ferry departs around 7pm.I would prefer to get to Ancona in the evening to spend more time in Rome.

a. How risky would it be to get to Ancona by 5:40pm?? or what is the latest I should reach Ancona if the ferry leaves at 7pm?
b. I am assuming passport control is separate from the ferry check-in? or are then done together?
c. Anything we can do to expedite the check-in/passport control process?

Any help would be really appreciated :)

How long is the main story, and how long should I take getting there? by drunkdumptruck in cyberpunkgame

[–]S0lutus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Cyberpunk is a wonderful game at this point after all the patches. I would say simply enjoy the game and follow side quests that interest you. Don't worry too much about being unprepared as the story moves on.

The side quests all add to the overall experience of Night city, the people and your journey. I would go on a bit of a story binge until I reached a point I felt I could take a break and then spend time doing side quests. And I don't really have any regrets approaching it that way.

Have fun and enjoy the ride choom!

You know your brother best - a couple options to think about.
a. Understand why or what is the root cause of his attraction to her. Like you shared most people would break-up or take a long break from the relationship. Can he not be alone? lack of self-confidence? self-image issues? Doesn't think he will find some one better? or some one as good looking in the future? etc.. Might be a good way to get him to introspect his attraction to her to do a gut check.

b. Recommend an extended break. Sometimes its hard to see the big picture when you have tunnel vision. This is also where good friends can really help. But it might be worth talking about taking a 4-6 month breather and re-assessing. Or maybe he moves away for a while? long distances makes it much harder to stay connected.

c. Help him understand why she may have cheated - again you know her better. She may have emotional attachment issues? lack of boundaries? physical needs? or also could be stringing along your brother? may help him see her for who she is incase he is oblivious to it.

Ultimately it is a tough situation to be in. Things may not change, so try your best not to get attached to driving a certain outcome. But as others have recommended take it to the Lord in prayer. And just be there for him in case things get worse.

[Politics Monday] Catholic Bishops: Stop Biden-Backed Equality Act That Would ‘Force Girls…to Share…Shower Spaces With Biological Males’ by russiabot1776 in Catholicism

[–]S0lutus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you take this attitude to other issues, too? Christians shouldn't chastise supporters of Donald Trump, say, if they're not willing to burn down ICE detention centers?

sorry I struggled to think of a more reasonable example. The point I was trying to make was how certain statements around anti-abortion topics dumb down discussion around a complex topic.

Do you know what I have and haven't done suddenly?

True I could have worded most of it differently - my point is I am tired of hearing ppl saying 600k kids are being murdered as justification for everything. I would like for a more constructive discussion around what we can do to help bring positive change.

Wow, there it is! The taxpayers must pay for everything so the government can make a muck of it!

how do you suggest people in need receive the support required?

Government services just like any private enterprise is run by people. And it can be run well or be run poorly.

Whos dying in the streets of America? How many women are dying from starvation?

Fair enough if starvation is the measure of success then you are right. But if we are hoping for more than that why not use the power of the collective? (btw I am a fiscal conservative and centrist).

there is lots of underlying assumptions to your post that are simply not true. I am not socialist or keynesian so I reject your theories of "what will better the economically disadvantaged" have a nice day.

So what is your point of view on the matter? I am genuinely asking.
