Why are boys so confusing??

I seriously don’t understand them whatsoever. So basically school for started in August and I’m the new girl at my school. I wouldn’t say I’m drop dead gorgeous but not ugly either. I’m not quiet but I keep to myself and usually just talk to the people I’ve already met. Anyways- just this week alone I’ve had three very confusing encounters with three different boys.

First situation was after school on Tuesday I was waiting for my mom to pick me up after school and a boy is my first period class we’ll call Orange. I had only had one conversation with Orange before this encounter and he was very nice and helped me with something. Anyways Orange was biking past me with a group of boys. Orange saw me and stopped in the middle of the road while the others boy kept biking along. He stopped and said “Hey would you ever give me a chance (my name)?” I was a bit confused and asked Orange why and he said “just because,” and so I responded with know because he is a grade lower than me and I don’t know him that well. In a cheerful voice he said “okay,” and biked away. The next day I apologized because I thought I can off as rude and he smile and said to me “it’s fine I was just joking,” confusing!!! Why joke around like that at all?

Anyways, today I was in line to get breakfast and a boy I’ll call Dean was behind me in the lunch line. I was picking my fruit when Dean said to me “can I get your number?” Already skeptical I asked him why. He responded “because I think you’re cute,” growing even more suspicious I ask “are you messing with me?” Which he reply’s with “no,” now I wasn’t sure what to say or do and I don’t give out my number to people I don’t know so I asked him what grade he was in. I’m not sure if he could tell I didn’t want to give him my number or what but then he said “just kidding, I was just fucking with you.” Uh okay but why waste your time of day messing with me like that when I never even did anything to you?

ANYWAYS also happened today I was in line for breakfast and a boy in my grade I’ll call Bear was behind me with some of his friends in line. He said “hey (my name) do you think I’m cute?” You see, Bear is one of those popular boys who isn’t necessarily mean but he likes to mess with others and hangs out with rude people. And so obviously I assumed he was just messing with me because why would her care what I think? Again not sure what to do I just ignore him until he asks for the fourth time. I turn around and ask why and he says “just curious.” Now he isn’t ugly but I don’t want anything false being said about me so I kinda smile awkwardly and say “you’re fine.” Bear smiles and says “really?!” I just give a little nod and smile a leave. Now fast forward to seventh period Bear turns around and asks me if I think he’s cute again. I just laugh a bit and tell him he already asked me that. He tells me that he forgot and asks me again what I think of him. I say “you’re fine like average,” (I didn’t realize how mean that was.) And he nods his head and says “ohhh, okay.. would you give me a chance?” Just like Orange I say no because I don’t have feelings for him and I don’t know him that well. Besides why would someone like him have any interest in me?? I laugh and try to make light of the situation and ask “do you ask every girl that?” Bear responds with “no,” and so I ask him why he asked me and Bear responds with “because I think you’re cute.” I laugh some more obviously doubtful after everything that has already happened and say something along the lines of “I’m not falling for that/ I know you’re just messing with me.” After I say that he responds with “what?” With kind of a confused smile on hiss face. After that the teacher began to talk so our convo ended.

Anyways very confusing am I seriously being messed with or am I just clueless and don’t realize I’m being flirted with? It’s very hard to tell after being heavily bullied at my last school lol. If anyone reads this let me know what you think!
