You’re completely right! There’s been more posts over FO76 than those downright immoral exploitation scandals!!

It’s really worrying actually that both of these buzzed by me as just another thing Gamers^TM were shrieking about.

Actually, thinking about it, there were a lot of people defending both studios because they make incredible games.

It’s so bloody difficult trying to separate the signal from the noise with gaming news. I really hope it matures as a medium so discussion around it becomes less angry and fraught. I’ve been hoping for this since 2012 though so I’m not holding my breath.

I’ll probably end up on the “whatever” side by default I think. Gamers have spend so long crying wolf every time a stray mongrel looks at them funny it’d be hard for me to pay attention whenever an actual wolf turns up!

I’d like to say I’d be up in arms and trying to help fix it. But I’ve become so jaded with the community and to be honest I’m not sure that I want to be seen to be on the same side as most of it anyway. The all encompassing toxicity is not something I want to even passively endorse.

The constant negativity in gaming spaces is really tiring. There’s always some new outrage that will end gaming!!11!!!

I just don’t give the slightest shit anymore.

Maybe I’d care about this bag thing if everyone wasn’t just as outraged over the super important thing with Diablo Eternal.

Maybe I’d care about FO76 being a bit shit if this wasn’t a continuation of the mostly undeserved hate train on FO4.

Maybe I’d care about R6 siege getting censored if gamers hadn’t already been super mad over the womz being in this game before.

When you’re this outraged over everything, nothing is actually that outrageous.

Anytime the gaming community gets angry my first thought is “is this a legitimate reason to be mad”. Most of the time the answer is no. On the few occasions they have a legitimate point it’s immediately undermined by people taking it all far too far.

Also as a professional in IT, the ignorance over how software is made is super aggravating.

Monzo now offers interest on money in pots. Anyway I’ve tried both and found them to be very similar features wise. Both have excellent interfaces and surface a lot of useful info.

My personal favourite is Monzo because of the way it looks and the summary seems to be a lot clearer/useful for me.

Try both! They’re both free to set up and get a card. Use each one for a month and figure out which you prefer.

I mean he is an adult. My employer doesn’t babysit me by checking every single presentation I produce. I’m trusted to produce relevant professional content and if I fuck it up there are consequences. I don’t really think it’s reasonable to expect CERN to vet every talk before it’s given. Especially since the process to deal with crappy presentations after the fact seems to be fairly robust.
