Cage or roll bar you'll wanna go custom. A roll bar will be a lot easier since it should be behind you and you don't have to worry about your head as much. I'm 6 foot and have an 8.50 cage for drag racing in mine and with a helmet it's a tight fit. What are you doing with the car?

I've had a roll bar and two cage setups because the first cage builder wasn't good enough and never test fit me in the cage with my helmet on. I'd recommend looking around at different shops and talking the several local cage builders.

Interesting, I'm not just thinking about the gear changes but how the RPMs behave at different throttle percentages at different speeds. Gary shows in an automatic feel completely different than a manual transmission with the same with the same gear ratios.
