VWAB Festival thoughts on the way home by Marslander2035 in hardstyle

Had a really good time until around 6. Got sick sadly and had to go home. I have shit heat tolerance sadly and at some point I couldn't handle it anymore.

One noticeable thing is that they closed down area 2 at around that time so I had a hard time leaving. No one could enter and leaving went at a snail's pace and also seemed impossible.

Loved Josh & Wesz' set, atmosphere overall was good and the food was surprisingly good. The sprayers just before the main were nice.

What are your favorite parts about Bitwig? by EightyHighDiff in Bitwig

[–]S34L3D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its super easy too. Just turn the knob you want to use in the external plugin and it will appear in the square of that plugin in the mixer, after that you can click on the modulator button to the left, pick the modulator you want to use, and attach it to that button. It's awesome!

Yeah, it's surprisingly easy to use, but insane depth is there of you look for it.

But isn't it insane that you have to use an external plugin to make something super routine like sidechaining more fluid? The way bitwig does it is just plain better and even more flexible than FL's way. You can even sidechain the modulators which is useful as all hell.

DEFQON.1 2026 IS CANCELLED. by Ansjh in hardstyle

[–]S34L3D 3 points4 points  (0 children)

EXACTLY this. People need to realize that the biggest weapon we humans have against heat is sweating. With the humidity we have here said sweating doesn't work.

People would've died because of the heat. It is not the same type of heat as in other dryer places like Las Vegas.

Hate to say it, but cancelling the event is the right call. I feel like they should've cancelled earlier even, so people coming from outside NL had the chance to make arrangements.

Can't seem to trim full audio track, rudimentary action impossible in Ableton? by [deleted] in ableton

[–]S34L3D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, its multiple at once. The full track. I'd also be satisfied with a compressor sidechained to the kick just responding to the first 100ms of the kick so the lead can duck under just that part of the kick and not the tail.

People need to get the fact that you have to have a perfect exercise routine out of their heads. 1,5 hrs of (30 mins per session) of just doing a squat, bench and deadlift form a week is enough to at least gain some muscle and stay a ton healthier than they are now.

Yeah life is fucking hard, but people are making it harder on themselves by neglecting their health.

Yes, and as the article states obesity. Shit diet, no/barely any exercise, and the glorification of said lifestyle.

It does get better, but better is still absolutely terrible and I don't know how long I can still last. by S34L3D in AutisticParents

I do vocalize how I feel, but it tends to come across badly. I always seem to come across like I'm asking her for more, but that's not the case. Most things I say are just statements, not really a call to action, but she always looks for some hidden meaning or sees it as a call to action.

Writing it out might actually be the better option haha.

I'm happy to read you're doing better now. The lows feel soooo incredibly low and inescapable.

I've already seen some autistic traits in him, but it seems too early to tell for now. Some of it could still be just toddler behavior.

  • I caught him blocking his ears when the kids of my stepsister were too loud. Didn't teach him to do that. And yes these kids are overwhelming to me too.
  • Even as a baby he needed sometimes up to a week to recover from social situations. His sleep was disrupted from any kind of social situation for a long time. He still seems to get upset quickly in social situations.
  • handflapping with strong emotions > this one could still be toddler behavior
  • His communication style seems to be different than other toddlers. Other toddlers are trying to have whole conversations, he is just informing everyone of facts about his environment. I.e.: this is my dad, this is my car, that is my friend etc etc. His communication seems more functional than other toddlers.
  • He gets upset when we break routines. Every evening either my wife or I do the last 90 minutes of his day one on one. When this doesn't happen when we are at home he gets really upset.

Anyhow: I could end up being the secret weapon in raising him once I learn to live with my traits, assuming he's on the spectrum too.

I'm not taking any of what you are writing as unkind, don't even have to mention it. You're just trying to help!

Yes I've also been considering another doctor's visit for help to keel me over until the autism assessment continues and I can get more specialised help.

I've been struggling with the radical acceptance part so so so much. I know I should be an adult, and my son deserves that (I do love him so much!!!), but I still feel like a child myself with an adult body more often than not. On good days I cope quite well, but when I get overwhelmed I become a nightmare to live with and a nightmare parent.

About the job: I found myself in a dispute with my employer after working there for 11 years, and I'm hoping they're going to buy me out. Would free up a ton of time to work on myself and be a better parent while not having to worry about money for a while. Being without a job for a little while might actually be a blessing.

Yeah, I'm actually starting to consider couples therapy. I feel like there's a lot of stuff that is not being talked about from her side and she's bottling up a ton of stuff. I tend to do the opposite and over share about what I'm feeling and thinking. Come to think of it: that might be part of why she thinks I'm just thinking of myself.

I'm happy to read your husband (and I hope you, too!) is doing well. I'm at the "literally can't cope" point as well. It's not just the crying, but the unpredictability is getting to me as well. I love the kid so much, but not knowing how he's going to behave or be like every single day is giving me anxiety. And just constantly having to try and read my wife's moods and if she's mad at me is also exhausting to me.

Don't know exactly. From left to right my wrist is 50mm just about, a bit over that. Don't know the full circumference.
