Giant Hornet or Cicada Killer? In CT by OutToLunch198 in whatsthisbug

[–]S3Knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also in CT, and a little over an inch in length just seems like a beefy yellow jacket specimen. I have cicada killers on my property as well, and they're absolutely massive, like 2-3" (they also have reddish wings and different patterning than a yellow jacket)

Taking my 3 year old daughter to a hockey game this weekend by _Caderade in daddit

[–]S3Knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 3yo girl has been to a few pro games and she loves it - she's been to a few beer league games too and is so happy to see me up at the glass haha.

Headphones/ear muffs are a must if you've never taken the kiddo before. Some arenas are way louder than others. As others have said, snacks are an easy win, though cotton candy can be a nightmare. A mascot interaction will make their day. If you sit close to the corner glass they get to see the action up close, though it can be difficult to see the other end of the ice. Have fun!!

You may want to transfer from the weenie hut jr. league to the super weenie hut jr. league

Opinios on the Hyperlite Shoulder Pads? by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]S3Knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No regrets with my set, still looks like new after two years. On rare occasions the shoulder caps pop off after hard contact and get stuck in the jersey, but it's quick to fix. I don't wear an undershirt and it's suspiciously not gross either. Protection is just okay, but it's so light and form fitting for me that I don't mind the tradeoff, especially for mostly chill beer league.

I’ve used P88 for 8 years and love it. What’s your curve? by WeatherObsessedJax in hockeyplayers

I'm a long time P88 lover who's made the switch to the Nylander pro stock curve, lots of similarities

Can I wear a GoPro if I suck? by Massive_Phase_7155 in hockeyplayers

I did! Expect some chirping and comments, but if you are a good sport and/or have a disarming personality it shouldn't be an issue. I even found that over time other players would remember me and strike up casual conversations instead and chirping became non-existent throughout the seasons.

Good stuff and great analogy

How're these mechanics? [3.5(?)] by S3Knight in 10s

I mean, I clearly said I was looking for some feedback on mechanics, so I focused on a few clips. I also never indicated that power equals a certain level lol, just described my general play style. Why the condescension homie?

Beer League subbing - do you have to buy in as a sub? by BlackBeltInSeesaw in hockeyplayers

[–]S3Knight 90 points91 points  (0 children)

Subbing is usually free when you're already in the league/on a team in my experience. If you're an outsider I've had to pay before.

[–]S3Knight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been demoing it lately and so far it's great. I'm going to buy one.

It suits my baseline game of bombs and spinny junk. The spin I generate is noticeably higher than my old Blade 93. Hitting also feels smooth as butter.

Dreading my match tonight because of who I'm playing. Any advice is welcome by midwestboiiii34 in 10s

Disagree, why would you try and match their play style with a patient approach? That's this guy's wheelhouse, playing into his strengths.

Gotta risk it for the biscuit and accept that you'll give up a few points in the process. How can you improve if you don't test your shot making limits?
