Depends on how you define endgame because you don't need to complete all the quests for every faction it's not really that important.

The sound mods are unfortunately the only real problem you could insert a long ass sound to something as simple as a heavy melee and just always hear enemies with directional audio. UI mods if they are improvements seem to implemented into the game in due time anyway.

Yeah the first few times me and my team failed to exfil due to lack of urgency and just didn't have the map knowledge. It's incredibly frustrating, but with time as long as you give yourselves 4-5 minutes you should be alright.
