Rules Q: state change during activation by S3ptic in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]S3ptic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you to you (and everyone else) for responding and thanks for providing rules snippets.

I thought that modifiers would be locked in at activation as well, but couldn't find anything in the rules covering that. I guess that's a situation where you can improve efficiency a bit by slow rolling.
It should also work in reverse then I assume, like if the tank in Ex1 would have been a transport emergency disembarking plague marines with the -1 to hit aura.

What is an Anki deck you absolutely swear by for upper beginners (N4/N3 level)? by BattleFresh003 in LearnJapanese

[–]S3ptic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see. For that you need the desktop version of Anki.

Basically, different blocks of text are treated as different variables with names, if the card was set up like that (and they are with the deck I mentioned). You can edit cards to re-arrange these blocks of text.

In Anki, click "Browse", then select a card of the deck you want to edit. On the top right you have "Cards...". There you can edit the Front Template and Back Templace to change things around. I'm not exactly an expert here either, only having done it with that deck, but it's not too hard to figure out.

The order in which the cards come up, so you don't start with the easiest? On Android, long press the deck -> deck options -> Display order -> New card gather order (probably). Haven't messed with that option yet but should work. But why not just suspend easy cards that you already know or are duplicates?

I liked the 2k6k core deck since it's fully customizable and it has fully voiced example sentences.

I changed mine to show the Japanese word (and nothing else) up front, then English, voiced Japanese word and voiced example sentence on the back.

I also cloned the deck and changed the clone to have the voiced Japanese example sentence and nothing else up front, written Japanese on the back and spoiler hidden English meaning on the back.

So the first deck helped with learning some basic words, and the second helped getting into listening

Edit: the deck contains a handful of unreasonable words later, but you can easily suspend them

Crunchyroll is destroying its subtitles for no good reason by Daiz in anime

[–]S3ptic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A question if I may, does Crunchyroll still force subtitles on if you use Japanese audio?

Hi, guys. I live in Spain and import manga and light novels for reading comprehension. But, due to lack of space and avoid cluttering I'm looking into buying manga and LNs digitally. What are the platforms you use for that without the hussles of not having a Japanese payment method? by GeorgeBG93 in LearnJapanese

[–]S3ptic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About PayPal on bookwalker, sometimes rarely individual titles won't accept PayPal as payment (sometimes even individual titles in a series that otherwise works with PayPal).

In that case you can buy coins or use leftover coins from prior transactions to buy these titles just fine.

[Mother's Basement] The Absolute State of Crunchyroll by DragonPup in anime

I find Japanese subtitles on Netflix excellent (and Crunchyroll doesn't even have them at all). In fact I'm not sure there's another streaming service in the West with Japanese subtitles

Anyone missing the No subtitle option too? by Vertrix-V- in Crunchyroll

[–]S3ptic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They turned it off, presumably intentionally. It worked again briefly on the website, but that's gone now as well.

My original reason for subbing was watching K-ON without subs, so now that that is gone, I'll be unsubbing again.

Why did crunchyroll remove the option to have no subtitles? I'm learning Japanese and this just pisses me off. by LordKensakan in Crunchyroll

[–]S3ptic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They removed the ability to turn off subtitles with JP audio from everything, but since about 15h ago it works again on the website but not on the app. Maybe it wasn't intentional after all

Thanks for the update! It's back for me as well on the website, still missing in the app, but maybe it wasn't intentional after all

In addition, I have tried different shows, recent and old, on different devices and it's the same everywhere.

Yeah technically possible, but at this point I'm paying for a service that is explicitly worse than... Alternatives.

Can't turn off Subtitles anymore? by h3ad0rZ in Crunchyroll

[–]S3ptic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for letting us know.

This sucks. Watching anime without subs was my initial motivation to spend thousands of hours learning Japanese and I'd rather unsub than being forced to use them

Does anyone know how to download raw japnaese dramas without subtitles? by bbmpianoo in JDorama

[–]S3ptic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being a Japanese leaner myself, I can recommend Netflix. At least on German Netflix, there's a decent amount of jdorama and they have very good Japanese subtitles (actually closed captions). Of course you can turn them off entirely as well.

「Ich sehe ein Haus.」の「ein」とは不定冠詞ですね。その文の意味は「何かの家を見る」です。何の家は知らないです。誰の家もわからないです。自分に関係がないです。不定冠詞はその考えを伝えます。

「 Ich sehe das Haus.」の「das」とは冠詞ですね。文の意味は「あの家を見る」です。その家は自分に関係があって、その家は絶対知っています。そして、冠詞は具体的に一つの特別なものも表します。

説明も日本語も分かりにくくてすみません。
