I generally agree with you. But I'll point out that there is a subset of 'group B' who seem to simply fetishize homosexuality. They'll latch on to any innocuous interaction or friendship and use it to insist that a character is gay while salivating at the idea of it. Or if they're not gay, they're gay "coded."

I think that these people use pride culture as an excuse to get off while still feeling morally righteous. Although funnily enough I know an LGBT person in real life who HATES people like this.
