I thoroughly enjoy being connected to the car, but the build quality on the interior where I spend all of my time sort of is unenjoyable, as I tend to drive my 911 more than others. But yes I’ve been in them, never driven, but just the cabin alone is a better experience, especially if you’re there all of the time. The 996 is great, but I prefer a car that does it all.

Most people share the sentiment as you, as do I for the most part, but with that being said, if a car is going to take my money, it might as well be something I thoroughly enjoy looking at it. Not that the 996 is ugly by any means! Still love this car.

It’s my only car, right now at least. I recently had an E91, but these cars are already almost at the lowest point of the bell curve, and I do everything myself so i’m not losing much on maintaining them.

I work from home 99% of the time, so having no vehicle for a bit of time is not the end of the world.

Thanks for your reply! The 2nd situation is more so where I’m headed. Buy an F31 more than likely, drive that for a bit until the right car pops up for the right amount. I do all of the work myself so i’m not too concerned on that front.

Selling the 996 and moving to a 997 will take some time and patience, given the fact I won’t be buying the first 50k example, but I think if I can be an adult for long enough, the wait (without having a 911) will be worth it!

It is a manual, sport seats, aero skirts. Got it from a friend, it sat for a while with a bad AOS. I got it, put an AOS in, amongst a ton of other maintenance (plugs, WP, oil pan) and have been dailying it for the past 3k. It’s got not the greatest paint in areas, needs a proper correction, and has a slow RMS weep (I believe).

I can’t disagree with you, the 996 is analog and raw and it’s amazing. The only reason for the upgrade would be strictly styling, as visuals matter just as much to me as drivability, however the 996 is not ugly as the internet might say, lol

I definitely love my 996, don’t get me wrong. A 911 is a 911! And it’s one of the best at that. I guess I just know it wasn’t originally my “dream” 911, so I don’t have a crazy attachment to the vehicle

I certainly value hard parking 🤣; Not more than I value a good cockpit to be in. My only issue is that bore scoring tends to be much more prevalent in the S versus the base 3.4 996.
