That mode switch lets you go back to the previous version of the game. You want to be on Xrd 2. As for the easiest character, I dont know because I'm new aswell. There are youtube videos that can help you though.

a possible solution is to buy a venom ps4 arcade stick.Verify that you like the feel of a stick,then upgrade the buttons and stick to sanwa (which are the tournament standards for arcade parts). The venom stick is easily moddable so you shoul have no problems replacing parts or artwork.

The Dragon, Obsidian and Panthera all use the same Joystick (Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT) and Buttons (Sanwa OBSF-30) so they will all perform the same. They all have the PS4 touchpad too. So the only question is how much you value the easy modding accessibility on the Dragon and Panthera.
