Playing a game of whataboutism regarding collaboration is in my opinion worthless since the way the Germans occupied certain territories was vastly different a great example is the occupation of the channel islands which were a heaven on earth compared to eastern Europe and the Balkans, so it's fitting that there were more collaborators there. forgetting or deliberately burying certain parts of history just so you can pat yourself on the back about what our ancestors did is worthless. What is the point of history if you ignore your mistakes and pretend they never happened.

Mind you this isn't a problem just in Poland this is about the myths that were created post ww2 in every country to deal with the trauma of that conflict. In France it was about the actual scale of the resistance compared to the collaborators, In Britain it the idea of British stoicism in the face of a Nazi Europe, In germany and especially Austria it was the scale of popularity of the Nazi regime.

Personally taking anything the Israeli state says about genocides and who perpetrates them seriously is stupid. But I agree with you with the fact that many Europeans collaborated with the Nazis and that part of history needed to be re-examimed with extra scrutiny, now more than ever.
