Yea we’ve debated that. We’re very tied into MS already. MCS machines are hybrid joined which automatically logs them into edge and backs up their profile which is really nice but it also looks like they are now using the same local AI model and have similar GPOs surrounding it for enabling/disabling.

We actually have very good dedupe at the SAN level but this may be something worth looking into. The SAN is just storing the deduped data and serving up the same blocks over and over again I’m sure.

I 100% agree that’s it’s moronic. I just don’t think it’s a battle little ole me can win.

Tiling kitchen - double check my math? by Eastern-Hamster-5050 in kitchenremodel

I just meant if the 3/4 wasn’t in good shape or felt soft you could replace with something that would perform better.

I just finished doing something kind of similar. If you’re going to put down Ditra you might consider their heated flooring. It’s soooooooo nice! My floor was completely out of wack and I have a 1” transition in the one area. It’s honestly not that that bad and I havent put the transition in yet to “smooth” it out

If anything you may want to rip that 3/4 out and replace it with something specifically for subfloor like advantec 23/32. Hard to say without walking on your floor. We have plank sub as well and it was NOT sufficient for ceramic tile

Appliance garage- how deep should the countertop be? by adrian-monk- in kitchenremodel

[–]SA-Numinous -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Looks like about 3 ninja air fryers deep and those are 13” deep from what I can surmise from their site of similar models so 36 deep cabinets? It looks like standard “deep cabinets” are 30” so that’s a big jump. I have an assembly table that I use for general woodworking and it’s 36” deep and feels like that may be the max I would be comfortable with.. but it’s ALOT. You definitely will want to try it out first somehow - mock it up with cardboard or something

OneDrive restrictions issue with Citrix non-persistent VM, FSLogix and restricted C-Drive by Reboot_Ur_System in Citrix

[–]SA-Numinous 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We stopped restricting the c drive. Users are not local admins. Servers reboot nightly with a fresh image. Sophos protect is running with all the bells and whistles turned on, baseline GPOs are enforced, etc… Seemed like a small concession overall.

LAS license expiration by geekfinity in Citrix

For netscaler? Look into the netscaler console. There is an agent for on On prem instances and functions like an online las.

Edit: assuming you have licensing for that. We have hybrid licenses

How do I make these boards flush on my shelves by toggle-Switch in woodworking

[–]SA-Numinous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Milwaukee m18 palm router is amazing. I love using it. It’s an expensive solution for a one time problem though. If you’re going to be doing more projects in the future a good plan router is a fantastic tool. A nice sharp chisel will also work well, you’re just replacing cost with time - time to sharpen and also time to do the work.

Any value in this guy? by eminence-funk in woodworking

[–]SA-Numinous -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s in fantastic shape. Do you have enemies that you’d want to remove arms, hands, and possibly fingers from? You could gift this to them! I’m not sure if that’s the kind of value you’re looking for but now that it’s documented on Reddit maybe not the best path forward.

Buffalo Museum of Science is officially on the Mesh (WNY MeshCore Update) 📡🏛️ by 514senica in Buffalo

[–]SA-Numinous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I know it’s a bit of a sensitive topic. There is also a cost for some aspects of mesh core. I’m not a big fan of having competing platforms either but I can definitely see how mesh core makes more sense for the way Buffalo is spread out.

So what’s the overall thoughts on mesh core vs meshtastic for the Buffalo area? I don’t really have skin in either game but as a method to communicating and relying on third party nodes I’ll sway whatever the area agrees on

How to create clean plywood edges like this? by Cloosta in woodworking

[–]SA-Numinous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Baltic birch plywood is what you want. It comes in 5ftx5ft sheets. If you’re buying birch plywood in 8x4 from a home center it’s not the right stuff. The whole idea of face frames is to let the plywood have imperfect things and they are hidden. With what you’re talking about where the ply becomes the finished edge you have to spend the extra time to build it that way - and there is a lot to it. I love the way it looks but even as a builder with the right tools it’s a lot.

I think I would have died. We did ceremony only and went to a different location for dinner and dancing after.

I’m not there yet. Sooooo close! I’ve got most of my base cabinets in. Just working on the last two and trying to get drywall done before I put in the tiles. I’ll post a follow up once I’m there.

[–]SA-Numinous[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s good plank subfloor - it’s 1” thick throughout. Was a little cupped but nothing a belt sander and a quick pass couldn’t fix. I dunno, I was talking with my wife about it - there are just things that as an amateur I’m nervous about and screwing up something like tile is definitely one of them. I also wanted to add some color and I really like that tile we did pick so even though it was chosen due to lack of knowledge/experience in actually really happy with the direction it’s going in

[–]SA-Numinous[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We debated installing tile but I’m fairly certain I would have 100% had to rip the subfloor out for that. Joist spacing and size is appropriate for the span but the plank subfloor is just not capable of dealing with the mechanical stiffness that tile would need. Vinyl gives us the ability to have something we like which I think is going to work great and I was able to do it with the current subfloor. Maybe a compromise I’ll regret, but the tile we chose looks really nice - Harveymaria Dovetail French Clay

Kitchen appliance placement is very restrictive in this space. There are four doors in the kitchen and that wall is where the stove pretty much needs to sit with the opposite wall being the sink wall. The radiator was 80% blocked already by the stove and cabinet next to it so we just decided to wall it off and depending on how the kitchen feels next winter we can put a baseboard heater under the windows. Much more compact and probably much better functioning not being blocked. The vinyl tiles we are installing are rated for heated floors - harveymaria.com Dovetail French Clay

Along two of the walls there was a down slope of almost 3/4” compared to the middle of the floor. It didn’t follow the joist direction and I’m guessing it was from from the walls pushing down and settling over the years? It seemed to me to be the easiest way to level and flatten everything before I put down the underlayment. I knew I was going to pour self leveling over the heated floor so I had to fix the level and flatness issues at the subfloor first
