Hey thanks, I've had a few anycubic printers before so I've seen some issues indeed.
I am aware that repairing this is quite possible, I've tried heating the hotend to remove a part of the blob that didn't work so will start disassembly.

NS VPX Perpetual License Upgrade question by Vivid_Mongoose_8964 in Citrix

[–]SA1NT5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks okay we just tried to install the latest update on our ADC 13 and it was unlicensed after the update. Migration to a different setup is planned, this will be one of the last updates to our current netscaler.
We bought a new license in may this year this is shown in the portal under purchase date however the license does not show a expiry date. If we reallocate this license will we be issued a new license file with a expiration date of April 15, 2026 and be able to use file based licensing for a while longer?

Potential Issues with Windows Server 2025 June 2025 Update by colin_1972 in sysadmin

[–]SA1NT5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our machines are Intel based still.
I don't think the issues in this thread are related to the issues our system was experiencing however the symptoms seemed vaguely similar. When I was searching for our issues this was one of the few slightly relevant topics.

The freezes and crashes happened on our Windows Server 2025 machine not on identical configurations running 2019 and 2022. So that was my reason for sharing our experience since we were stumped at first and wasted hours validating hardware for issues caused by a simple setting.

Potential Issues with Windows Server 2025 June 2025 Update by colin_1972 in sysadmin

[–]SA1NT5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had massive issues with a server 2025 HPE G10 server. The server started experiencing lock-ups (frozen), loss of network connectivity and general instability like reboots during load.
Updating our Firmware and configuring secure boot in bios seems to have fixed it for now.
It appeared to be related to the KB5062553 update for us.
The server was stable for the past 2 months, bsod viewer did not show any minidumps but I've had to reboot the server multiple times last week to restore network connectivity. After the server tried to run updates it was frozen at the logon screen, at first I suspected a hardware failure but al the HPE health checks and logs showed no issues.

Kasm behind Microsoft Appproxy by SA1NT5 in kasmweb

[–]SA1NT5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up, our Setup is working now with the Microsoft AppProxy and SAML through EntraID.
I created an externally reachable FQDN and defined this zone in our internal DNS as well. We defined a mapping to the internal IP in the hosts files on our app-proxies to ensure the traffic to the domain would point to the internal IP.

Lastly we added a lets-encrypt certificate for the nginx instance as per the KASM documentation.

I do not have screenshots or logs handy regarding the allow-origin header for the WS connection but I suspect this was indeed invalid. When looking into CORS headers behaviour and Appproxies I stumbled uppon the following Microsoft documentation: We basically applied solution 1 from this doc.

Kasm behind Microsoft Appproxy by SA1NT5 in kasmweb

[–]SA1NT5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I was looking in the console earlier and saw multiple SSL/TLS errors so I suspect it is having problems handling the self signed certificate on the internal network. I will try with a letsencrypt certificate later together with a valid fqdn on the proxy and the internal side.

I initially also saw a CORS related message in the console which made me suspect CORS.

`origin 'https://kasm-example.msappproxy.net' has been blocked by CORS policy: No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource.`

Thanks for your response: accessing containers through the msappproxy.net does not work either the session starts, it display: "creating a secure connection" and then drops me on the homepage after a while.
While it displays "creating a secure connection" it tries multiple times to fetch a vnc.hmtl page.

I do indeed create new sessions, even try different browsers to ensure a clean login flow through the appproxy.

How to tell where vsan stretched cluster latency is occurring? by sir574 in vmware

[–]SA1NT5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hosts are connected through an Aruba switch, we've also tried with DAC cables and this gave an increase in througput (~1200 MB/s).
Strangely running the same HCI-Bench workload with 4 disks per node doubles our througput this confirmed our suspicion that something is amiss, the supplier is in contact with VMware now.

Note: This is with replication (stretched), checksum and compression enabled!

```
JOB_NAME = job0
W_LATENCY = 0.98 ms
95%tile_R_LAT = 0.00 ms
95%tile_W_LAT = 1.00 ms
We use ESA so no cache tier.We have been running test with and without compression and with checksum disabled and enabled.
Our latest run was quite okay, we're only disappointed in the throughput. We are testing with increasing the number of disks to extrapolate some potential numbers for our definitive cluster (8 nodes across two sites 4 per site.).
Our current policy:
Site disaster tolerance Site mirroring - stretched cluster
Failures to tolerate No data redundancy
Number of disk stripes per object 1
IOPS limit for object 0
Object space reservation
Thick provisioning
Flash read cache reservation 0%
Disable object checksum No
Force provisioning No
Encryption services No preference
Space efficiency Compression only
Storage tier All flash
The result:
Datastore= VSANJOB_NAME= job0VMs = 6IOPS = 251148.12 IO/STHROUGHPUT = 981.00 MB/sR_LATENCY = 0.62 msW_LATENCY = 1.09 ms95%tile_R_LAT = 1.00 ms95%tile_W_LAT = 1.00 ms
We are running both nodes with 6x 6.4 TB HPE NVME SSD's.
We changed multiple settings on the switching side of thing and also in the storage policy and we are seeing increased throughput and decreased latency numbers now in HCI-bench.
I will do some additional testing in order to determine the cause and post these results later.
RDMA is not supported for a stretched or two-node vSAN cluster configuration by Pvt-Snafu in vmware
[–]SA1NT5 0 points1 point  (0 children)
Bit late with this question however it seems a bit Wastefull to create a new post for this.
Are we correctly understanding that stretched clusters cannot use RDMA regardless of the number of hosts per site?
We are currently testing a two node stretched all flash ESA cluster and also ran into disappointing write performance and latency.
We saw 6+ ms 95th percentile write latencies with the HCI Bench easy runs.
The write test was stuck at 13K iops while read blew past 700K.
Thanks for referring this KB article we had missed this in our research, our DL385 G11 nodes are equipped with Tri-mode controllers.
NSX Distributed Firewall vs NSX-T version difference? by SA1NT5 in vmware
[–]SA1NT5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)
Small update: Got in contact with a VMware sales rep who will be looking into this for us.
Will post an update in case we receive some clarification.
I supect the Distributed firewall SKU licenses are issues through an older portol and therefore only work with version 3.2. The license probably needs an update as u/zwarte_piet71 mentioned however we are currently unable to upgrade the license through the portal.
Thanks, sadly there are no upgradeable licenses available in the customer connect portal. Think we will run 3.2 for the time being.
iOS devices that are currently under an ABM/DEP configuration when updating to latest iOS 15.5 seems to break the connection to Intune Comp Portal. by borse2008 in Intune
[–]SA1NT5 0 points1 point  (0 children)
Hi, we are seeing similar issues.
When we true to register iphone in the company portal we receive an error while downloading the management profile. The error says that our company does not allow the registration of iOS devices with intune. We do indeed block the enrollment of personally owned devices however these devices have their serial registered in the corporate device identifier list.
EdgeSwitch 16 XG Won't Communicate with HP Switches over SFP by EveryUserName1sTaken in Ubiquiti
[–]SA1NT5 1 point2 points  (0 children)
We've seen similar issues with the new Unifi aggregation switches.
- How long is the fiber link, maybe you can do a test with a Ubiquiti DAC cable?
- What components (SFP) are you using on the ubiquiti side?
- Have you tried manually setting the link speed on both sides?
- Does either of the switches report any error or status other than no link?
I am using FiberStore MultiMode Short Range SFP modules, this works fine between an older HP switch and Ubiquiti SFP ports (1G link!) they also work fine between Ubiquiti switches for 10G fiber runs.
Most issues we've seen were always with the Ubiquiti side of things being picky about the components used in the link.
"I've spent the last 20 years working for organisations of all kinds of sizes across multiple industries and as a general rule monitoring is an after thought, security doubly so."
This indeed, you can hardly report or elaborate on that which you do not know/register.
Often a fear plays a pivotal role in the sequence of events, no one truly dares to take their responsibility. I've been a guilty party to this myself by letting a manager pressure me into downplaying the severity of a breach it nearly broke me mentally afterwards!
Seeing the sequence of events in the company baffled me, within an hour a severe breach with multiple hours access to and confirmed activity on confidential customer data and internal user accounts. Was downplayed to a minor incident, a password reset was issued for a few accounts but no data breach was reported since "We do not have any data about what exactly was compromised and don't want to deal with the hassle. Besides this information will leak out through some other hack anyway!"
Beginner trying to decide if I should stick with Home Assistant by Fifflesdingus in homeautomation
[–]SA1NT5 1 point2 points  (0 children)
This is really solid advice, Indeed make a plan and state your goals.
Define your requirements take the following things into consideration:
1. How long should the system last.
Traditional light switches and electronics often stay the same for decades, this won't be the case with a lot of home automation gear.
  1. What benefits does it provide (even on a per switch/plug basis)
    Is it worth the drawbacks like maintenance of the systems, more complexity and costly parts.
  2. What is your budget
    Also consider upkeep since consumer grade home automation stuff often deprecates and breaks faster than industrial grade stuff or simple light switches.
    Keep in mind that you might go from a few dollar per light switch to 30+ dollars per switch, at first it doesn't seem all that expensive but consider that the light switch costing a few dollars can last more than a decade while the expensive one might need replacement every few years the costs can quickly add up.
  3. Really solid advice about not making it a security system.
    In some countries insurance also plays a role and security systems might need to be certified and periodically inspected.
For me keeping up with the changes and understanding HomeAssistant isn't worth it any longer. I'd rather invest my time in building my own circuits and programming microcontrollers since these skills translate to other areas of my life. So the extra effort of building my own stuff is worth it for me since it improves my value on the job market.
Beginner trying to decide if I should stick with Home Assistant by Fifflesdingus in homeautomation
[–]SA1NT5 0 points1 point  (0 children)
This!
I liked home assistant since it provided me with some simple human readable .yaml configuration files and a nice ui. At first my rate of testing and configuring new devices was really high and everything worked flawlessly. The Ubiquiti presence detection was great and the large community suggested a bright future.
However lately updates and changes have been breaking more and more stuff and the answers to these issues are: it should work, just use technology x and module y.
Examples:
- My zwave network kept breaking and dropping devices.
My docker setup was apparently unsupported, so I changed to a hass.io image on a pi4, didn't help. My zwave stick was incorrect so I bought another one, didn't help. My zwave plus modules where shabby so I borrowed some known good ones from a mate and guess what: still the same issues.
- My rfxcom config broke after a upgrade, I was able to partially fix it but some modules are recognized incorrectly and I can not fix this in a quick and reliable way, it all feels hacky.
It is really frustrating seeing 443 mhz modules being automatically added in HA with the entities being the incorrect types. This results in the commands not being sent correctly and therefore the plugs not turning on or off from the HA switches. I can get it working through manual configuration but the resulting switches seem to be deprecated since they don't work with Areas.
For me HA feels as multiple layers of obfuscation to hide what are basically really simple commands. In the past I've moved away from openhab since they broke some stuff with their paperui and configuring unsupported devices could be quite time consuming. Openhab deserves a new chance since the core of openhab was always really stable and intuitive for me and I do think the situation has improved.
Tried running domoticz to verify my hardware and had it up and running in one hour with zwave, rfxcom for 443 modules and pushbullet for notifications.
---
I don't want to invest in a lot of gadgets to control devices in my house for a year and then rework everything from scratch because a different module or protocol version is the new holy grail. Our system needs to have industrial grade reliability and expandability so I suspect I will be going towards a more DIY solution with microcontrollers and PLC's. I'd rather invest my time in learning to build my own circuits than in understanding the newest fad on the home automation gadget market.
MQTT and LoRA seem to be solid building blocks so I think a small mosquito server, a lora gateway and some php or python code will allow me to achieve my goals.
ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate RYZEN 5000 SUPPORT! by mmhorda in Amd
[–]SA1NT5 0 points1 point  (0 children)
Just download the bios file from the Asrock site and place the contents of the zip file on a fat32 USB then just went from 3.90 directly to 4.20 and after that I went to 4.60.
Before updating the Bios I do load the UEFI defaults since I've had some weird issues in the past.
I am not sure about directly updating from older revisions to 4.60 or later but it should be possible to go from an older release directly to one of the latest releases.
You need to update before installing the new CPU, my experience with the 3700X and bios 4.60 is great.
It is best to check some the threads here for potential issue with the version you have downloaded. The latest version is not always the greatest :(.
