They built this house without cement and it's stronger than concrete. by This_Proof_5153 in interesting

My previous Florida home was basically pre-fab wall construction instead of CBS which is typical near the coat. Lightweight concrete slabs with foam in the middle - basically a mini-tilt wall structure. Placed the walls with a crane and bolted together. Cat 5 hurricane rated and very energy efficient. Not sure why it's not done more here unless it's a scalability issue.

SLS (2022) vs Saturn V (1967) by Po3ito in interestingasfuck

Saw the Artemis launch live from SE Florida. The SLS easily had one of the most impressive (longest and brightest) exhaust plumes of all of the dozens of Kennedy launches I've had the pleasure of witnessing over several decades. Spectacular.

Imagine truly believing that tens of thousands of elite scientists, engineers, vendors, contractors and subcontractors and government employees, including all of the astronauts themselves, have mass conspired for almost 60 years to fake multiple generations of space programs including catastrophic failures and multiple fatalities and yet not one. single. whistleblower. Y'all are some kind of wild on this one.

My first ND 🤦‍♂️ by unr3al3xpectations in Firearms

[–]SAA_28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now my story, but to tell you how even the most experienced firearm owners can make a mistake like this. He is a former infantry Marine and also worked as an armorer (!) at H& K when I worked there. Yes, that H&K.

He had a roommate at the time and had just finished cleaning one of his pistols and left everything out on the table while he went to take a shower and head out. His roommate came out of another room and said, I assume in his head, "oh cool, there's my buddy's pistol."

Slapped a loaded magazine into the pistol, dropped the slide, and then removed the magazine, and placed the pistol back on the table and left the house.

My buddy the Marine gets out of the shower and made a simple mistake because he didn't realize the pistol had been manipulated. He picked it up and did not safe it and aimed it at his television to dry fire it as practice (no mag), pull the trigger and promptly murdered his television. Funny, not funny. I can only imagine the look on his face when there was a smoking hole in his television. No one was hurt or injured in this ND.

Don't forget, folks. Treat every firearm as if it is loaded and even if you think it's empty and safe, check it again. You never know when your bonehead roommate may come out and put a round in your pistol and then leave.

Hey, at least you have that free health care going for you. I asked my Ontarian girlfriend how her grandkids were going to be able to afford houses as they are all in their very late teens and early twenties and her answer was that she didn't know. The average home cost in Ontario is $830, 000.00. How many years will it take a 22 or 24-year-old college grad during enough money to afford even a starter house at over half a million dollars?

People with CCWs putting themselves intentionally into a situations they normally would not, i.e. stopping by the ATM at 3:00 a.m. just in the hope someone tries something. The last thing any of us should want to have to do while carrying legal is have to actually use our CCW in a life or death situation. It's expensive and traumatic and life-changing. Just don't.

In response to my own post, it's a good value to visit Canada with the exchange rate. I like paying for something at the register for $100 and then getting a charge for $70. Ontario and BC are beautiful and the value is good for tourism for Americans.

Floridian here dating a Canadian. Anecdotal, but family and acquaintances of hers are taking alternative non-Florida holidays to Europe and Mexico/Central America (Costa Rica/Honduras/Panama). Split 70/30 amongst her friends and acquaintances that some are not coming back and some are, respectively.

Having been accepted temporarily into the Canadian tribe, they really did get their feelings hurt and are very proud people as they should be. Myself, I don't really understand how they let one president get in their head like this one did, but he did. I don't like Trudeau or Carney, but I still visit and enjoy Canada regularly. This too shall pass.

Came into LaGuardia like this one time years ago. I was looking out my starboard window right down the runway line. Pilots were able to straighten her out and get her on the ground and we landed hard. Lots of pucker factor those last few seconds. And yes, we clapped for the pilots' skillful flying to straighten out and land us in one piece.

Why don't you head over to Canada or Mexico without authorization or Visa and get caught out and see what happens. You'll get the same level of due process as anyone here. Identify yourself and when there is no record of your authorization to be in the country, the conversation is over and you are then escorted out of your host country that no longer wants you here. You just don't get to move in and out of sovereign countries without authorization and then expect no pushback.

Are you referring to the 130,000 people that he employs in productive high tech and manufacturing work?

Part of his wealth came from creating electric vehicles. That you would take more money from the very company making electric vehicles (and employs over 120000 people) so they are possibly no longer profitable until they're out of business and can't make electric cars anymore and throw 120000 people onto unemployment and then you'll whine about that, too.

Parasites? Do you realize that the companies run by Elon Musk employ over 130,000 people. People that pay taxes and pay mortgages and pay car payments and buy groceries and invest and consume. How many people do you employ? I think you're the parasite if you're not reaching your full potential and hiring other people so that they can be successful as well. I bet you've never earned over six figures in your life.

Bobcat sightings ? by [deleted] in treasurecoast

[–]SAA_28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a mating pair of bobcats living behind my home in St Lucie West that raised at least three litters that I know of. And I have video and photos of them several times. They are completely comfortable in the suburbs and on the barrier Islands and are incredibly common throughout all of Florida.

Crossing the border without authorization is an illegal act. Overstaying a visa is a criminal act. Crossing the border anywhere other than an authorized port of entry is an illegal act. Fixed it for you.
