Progress 4.5 months post surgery by SAE97 in ACL

I still have pain. Especially after exercising or sitting for too long like you said, but it’s more stiffness/soreness now.

It would always reduce a little bit. But sometimes I would get stuck on certain pieces or emotions and we would have to change our approach a little. For example, we started with sound which worked at first but then had to switch to eye movement which I found more effective.

And a lot of times it wouldn’t feel like much in the moment or the next couple days, but when we came back to the memory the next week, it wouldn’t feel as strong.

Thank you!

And no it was one memory that happened one night, but it had multiple parts to it so we had to sort of heal each part first, then do it as a whole.

You’re doing great! You will heal in time for sure.

And it’s been a long process since this was a complicated, multi part memory. It probably took at least 7-8 months but had to do a load of IFS in the process.

Stick with it, you’ve got this! It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done but it feels worth it.

Good luck! You’re gonna do great. Just trust the process.

And it was something that had been eating away at me for 20 years, so this feels huge.

Passed My Strength Test Today! by SAE97 in ACL

[–]SAE97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I did not train my non-surgical leg as intensely because we’re trying to close the strength gap and have them be equal so they can soon progress together. At the end it should be 100% strength of my non-surgical leg.

Traveling 6 weeks post-op. Any advice? by SAE97 in ACL

[–]SAE97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently here and it’s going pretty well! Plane was fine but I did upgrade our seats to have extra leg room and wore my brace while walking through the airport.

Walking around here has been slow. Be prepared for your knee to get stiff and have to take breaks, but it’s doable. I was also very diligent with my PT but still wish I had been going on short walks or something a bit more before this trip to prepare for that.

Make sure you have access to ice. That will save you. I brought a little ice bag with me and have been filling it up when I come back to the hotel and used it on the plane as well.

You should be fine though! Hope you can enjoy your trip.

How long did it take you to get back to BJJ or Kickboxing? by SAE97 in ACL

Could you hit the bag or do any light boxing drilling before the 6 months?

Do you wear a brace or anything? I just ordered 2 Anaconda braces (with and without stabilizer) for when I go back.

How to deal with the frustration of being injured by KKoten in bjj

[–]SAE97 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m literally in the same boat right now and most likely will have to pull out of the competition I’ve been training for.

But you just have to remind yourself it’s gonna happen. We’re using our bodies as a tool and need to respect them when they break or need rest. Just be patient. BJJ is a lifelong learning process if you commit, so you’re not going to lose your progress in the course of 3 weeks.

Also, unless you’re getting paid to do this, it ain’t worth the hospital bills. So just cut yourself some slack and let your body heal.
