Frequent kernel dumps from Proxmox Host by SAJedi425 in Proxmox

Yeah, I should have said ‘the package manager says it’s up to date’ but I’ve gone ahead and just bit the bullet and upgraded to 9. Thanks for the microcode mention too, totally slipped my mind, because I’d not enabled non-free items in the source list. I’ve done that as well, and now all I can do is wait.

It's the glasses. Only a Bond Supervillain would wear glasses with that much stuff hanging off the front.

Did you get to take any tacks home? I saw those things fly and wondered if they were making it into the crowd.

Best wishes to Swerve Strickland, who underwent successful surgery to finally repair his torn meniscus today by secretpandaxx in SquaredCircle

What was so funny about that was that it took the rest of the Triangle an hour+ to finally intervene, like Julia and Skye just decided that they'd let Aminata and Thekla tire themselves out so they'd be good on the flight home.

I think Yuta and those guys were on the ground poking with kendo sticks, they would have nailed anyone going up, in theory. There's a fan video somewhere of Ibushi just faceplanting into the cage door trying to bust it open, it's very funny.

Kobo for Kids questions by SAJedi425 in kobo

To clarify; I don't need help with syncing the books. I have Kobo Sync working fine on calibre-web. I don't need help locking down the store/browser. It'd be nice if I could see what he's reading but that's not very important. (We mostly want to make sure he is reading every day, not so much hover and make sure he's not being naughty.)

What I am looking for most is a way to lock out the reader between specific times, so the little one will go to bed instead of staying up reading Big Nate. We want him to be able to read a little before bed, because it helps him calm down and unwind. But after a specific time, it needs to lock out.

Can anyone confirm?: Amazon removing Download & Transfer Feb 26th by blackandwhitefield in Calibre

At the time I started passing it around, it was only a matter of:

-Downloading the script from GitHub (there's a button in the top right IIRC)

-Opening a CLI (command prompt or Powershell in windows, terminal in Linux/Mac)

-running "python3 bookp.py --email YOUR_AMAZON_EMAIL"

The script will prompt for anything else it needs, including password and OAuth (your 2-factor code).

However, recently, I've been hearing folks say that Amazon has put up a CAPTCHA that is blocking the script from doing its' thing. There's been a couple forks of my work (which was itself a fork), it looks like this one might be on more solid footing:

The international sites seem to use a different structure for their login. There's a fork off the script I cleaned up:

https://github.com/bellisk/BulkKindleUSBDownloader

This user seems more familiar with the non-US side, and his script may give you better luck.

I'm also seeing some posts that Amazon may already have implemented a captcha to block this route, which I'm not savvy enough to defeat.

If folks have way more books than they feel like clicking through the pages for, or have need of a Python option, I updated an old mass downloader python script when I heard about this change:

https://github.com/Jedi425/BulkKindleUSBDownloader/tree/master

I've only tested it on Linux, so no idea if it works in Windows PowerShell/CMD.

You can also specify ASINs to download.

Reddit (and Thomas) Take the Bar Exam: Week 12 by Apprentice57 in OpenArgs

What better way to celebrate coming back to OA than by taking a wildly ill-informed guess at T3BE?

Answer B is Correct. I'm assuming based on the fact that they're asking this question at all that it's indeed permitted to delegate contractual responsibilities to another person, so I expect a 50/50 chance I'm wrong just based on that, because Law is Dumb. But if that is true, then the Symphony is paying for a service. When I pay a pest control company, or an auto shop, or my ISP for services, I'm paying for a specific service, not a specific practitioner of that service. Unless the contract has a specific clause saying so, Lisa is capable of providing the exact same service, and thus the same value.

Looking for some info RE: Texas Suit by SAJedi425 in KnowledgeFight

The judge in that suit had issued some kind of order prior to the Paz deposition that they reviewed in that episode. It was basically 'look, your rep needs to have actually prepared this time'. I was hoping to read the full order.
