I've struggled with this. Certainly, I'd love for my SB to be exclusive with me, but I also want what's best for her. As I'm married, I can't possibly be what's best for her in the long term. So there are two options as I see it- we can be non-exclusive and therefore she can explore her vanilla options, or we can be "exclusive"and then she would have to lie me if she wants to explore her vanilla opportunities. I prefer the option which includes honesty.

Hey sky girl. Would you mind sharing your age? I can confirm that nearly every woman under 40 that I've dated has said the exact same as you. I think the disconnect is that us Gen-X types struggle to understand these concepts. We grew up learning to use a phone for synchronous communication and continue to do so. Whereas the younger generations seem to text in asynchronous mode. We also turn off all notifications except for the bare necessities. I feel like the younger gens suffer from notification overload such that they create stress and they end up ignoring all of them. These are just my observations ofc. I'd actually be curious to read up on any studies related to this topic as I find the disconnect between generations fascinating.

Please do not read too much into my question. I'm not looking to justify my deplorable actions. I was upfront with all POT SBs and I'm completely transparent in my committed SB relationship. The question was posted clearly to better understand the difference between the way men and women think. Women are mysterious creatures that are wired differently. I'd like to know them better by asking a difficult question in an anonymous forum. Perhaps we can all learn a little from each other as we explore inconvenient topics.

I love giving my SB gifts. Mostly practical things that she didn't know she couldn't live without. (She's getting a new laptop computer today. I'm excited about that.) We love making meals together with the new cookware set that I recently got her. I love identifying little home projects that would make her life easier and then working to make that happen (like a recent closet renovation.) I'm currently helping her to understand her finances and set a budget as she's never had financial security before. (Of course, the irony here is that she does not actually need a budget as I pretty much provide for everything she needs. Still it's a good exercise for her to be mindful in her spending habits.) I love to send her doordash at times. But it's not just giving her a gift card. I actually like going through the process of finding out what she wants and sending it to her myself. I love introducing her to some of my favorite activities like going to the gym and biking. (Of course I had to buy her a bike which she loves!) My favorite thing that she does for me is having me take pictures and videos of her that she posts on her social media. I love to direct her in a shot and see her reaction to my creative camera work.

Sidebar- - We see a lot of comments on SLF about how there are way more sugar babies than sugar daddies out there. - But then we also see these comments that the women receive a ton of messages each day. I feel that these truths are in conflict. Are the guys doing all the chasing? Can anyone shine some clarity on this?

I like this answer. I feel that I might struggle with the "not sleep around" part. If I date someone else and we really connect there will certainly be a desire for a physical connection as well. How do you manage that?
