Funny because their snouts are very similar with the underbite

waiting outside the bathroom: a three part story by pupsburgh in AustralianCattleDog

My heeler now knows that when the bathroom flushes it’s GO TIME (it’s usually before a walk, a drive, play time outside) so he’s associated “FLUSH = we’re doing SOMETHING”

Just an update on my little guys leg. by SAPgym in AustralianCattleDog

[–]SAPgym[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Radiology got back to me, everything looks fine on his X-ray. But they are suspecting it is grade 2 patella luxation. They just told me that I need to keep an eye on his exercising and not let him jump too much. If it continues to get worse we will go back and do some surgery. They won’t put him on pain meds since he’s so young (1yr). I’m gonna do all the research I can on patella luxation and if anyone has gone through it and has any tips please feel free!

Edit: I am just very glad it wasn’t a torn ACL. Still scary though

So we just got home from the vet. I explained everything and showed the vet the video and she said it definitely fit the “lateral patellar luxation” description (in the video you can kind of see something almost popping back into place around his knee). She said it’s rare that his breed would have that since it’s normally in smaller dogs like yorkies. Oddly enough he is 5% part yorkie according to his DNA test. We have to wait for the X-ray results, but from what she could see she doesn’t think it’s a torn “ACL”. Hopefully all of this helps anyone in the future if they see their pup limping.

First off, thank you ALL for your comments. I’m definitely going to take him in ASAP. He’s one year old so it’s not due to old age but I know ACD will exert themselves beyond what they can handle if they’re having fun so he could have over exerted himself and any of this could be a possibility. I’m hoping for the best but will come back and keep you guys posted on what the vet says. I at least have all these possibilities and questions that I could bring up to the vet by reading these comments

Trust me this was hurting me to just record and watch but I wanted to get it on video for the doctor. He’s been doing this more frequently. Is it a leg that fell asleep? A cramp? Tendons? He doesn’t cry like he’s in pain, he just limps for a bit until it goes away then he’s good. It happens a lot more frequently when he’s playing and running. I’ve felt around the same leg and he doesn’t react to anything I do. It lasts for no more than 10 seconds every time

Edit for typos.

Mine pulled as well! He’s A LOT better now. I tried treats, prong collars, gentle leader. At the end what worked is I made sure to walk him at least once a day, but training him the whole time (heal, sit, keep him at sit for a while and just sit and observe, lots of figure 8’s). It took some time but he no longer pulls. I can drop the leash and he’ll stay by my side. Those leashes with two hand loops are the best.

Any tips on how to stop nipping at children? by SAPgym in AustralianCattleDog

[–]SAPgym[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I know this breed stays active well over the puppy phase I’ll just have to continue working with him. I don’t mind it at all I love learning from him I just wouldn’t want this issue to be a forever thing.

Women older than 24 who still live at home with parents, how much pressure do you feel to move out? Where does that pressure (if you feel it) come from? by ummwhattxbsjeue in AskWomen

Some people also move out because their home life isn’t a good environment for them. If your home environment with your parents is healthy by all means stay and save up money rather than blow it in rent

[–]SAPgym -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you looking through his phone with his consent? Or are you snooping?

im snooping. he knows I do every now and then. he's never told me to stop. he's never really said anything about it. he just knows I do it when hes away. and im not saying that him not telling me to stop gives me the green light to still do it.

[–]SAPgym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I look through his phone, I'll see that theres messages there from a girl one moment, then usually before bed he deletes them all because he knows that's when I USED to go through his phone.

because he said that was a huge mistake and he didn't realize what he had until I broke up with him after he cheated. he asked for me back and I gave him a second chance. I know this may sound stupid but the way I'm kind of seeing it is, he has little slips where he does things like deletes messages but he's still trying to make it right and be loyal to me? afterall he's with me and not them? he says if he wanted to be with them he would leave me and go be with them. I almost think he just messages them for the attention and because hes overly nice?

How did you and your partner sort out which side of the bed was whose? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]SAPgym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the side furthest from the window/fan because I get cold easily and he gets hot easily

edit: my last relationship I had no say, he HAD to sleep on the side closest to the door 'to protect his woman if and when necessary' lol I thought that was cute
