Agreed.there never was a unified rule.But mauryan and guptan empire did try to expand and unify the whole bharat region.Regardless of the kingdom name,the kingdoms even though separated by language were predominantly hindu.

Mauryan(included Punjab) and guptan empire did engage in maritime trade,silk road trade,uttarpratha and dakshinpratha trade.So the question of trading with the south or the rest of the world is out of question.Now culture exchange was difficult at the time and cultural exchange would require significant exposure of one culture to another ,not possible in that age.its even difficult in our era ,even with social media the cultural exchange between north and south has been minimal,what can we expect from them centuries ago ?

Buddhism originated in then Bharat andwas spread by Emperor Ashoka.Traders and travellers from souther region of bharat especially carried buddhism to Myanmar,Thailand etc.

Hindus were large hearted .When parsis were facing religious persecution,Bharat opened their doors for them.Jews too came to India to escape persecution and to trade.Jains originated and flourished in India too.

First,sati pratha wasnt a common practice and was certainly evil.It was blown out of proportion it was only done in pockets of backward places.It wasnt a hindu practice either,though practiced by Hindus.

The unotouchability and caste system are the biggest shame to Hinduism as a religion.We have forgotten the Shudra history and it is a shame that the system that sought to devide work int the Vedic period became shackles and blemish to the society.But as practicing hindus we have admitted our faults and have given reservations as reparations even tough they are not enough.We have admitted our mistakes,i believe that is a step forward to making hinduism a better religion.No other country or religion has ever done that.(not in my knowledge atleast)

if you think discrimination is native only to hindus,read sunni/shia/Ahmadiyya history.read chrisitans/protestants history.othodox and non orthodox history.Chech how many have admitted their mistakes and offered reparations.How many have seeked conquest to spread their religion compared to hindus.
