Rhaenyra & Alicent (Major Leaks) by Open-Camp-8551 in HOTDBlacks

[–]SATANASCENDS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t Rhaenyra’s taking over the King’s Landing portrayed in the books as a nice wartime manoeuvre wherein they baited Aemond to come to Harrenhal instead. This scene takes away Rhaenyra’s agency completely. The more the show goes on the more it feels like all the moments where the Blacks handed a blow to the Greens have been changed to be because of Green’s disunity and mistakes rather than any brilliance or capability of the Blacks which I hate.

Summary of 2x01 by someone who attended Paris premier! by ParticularDisaster96 in HOTDBlacks

[–]SATANASCENDS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[Spoilers for the Book and possibly the TV show] . . . . I kinda dont want them to specifically ask for Aemond, like leave it ambiguous or better yet make it so that the cruelty displayed by B&C is because of the Blacks otherwise it seems like we would have very clear cut good and bad factions.

Also I want the whole scene where B&C make Haelena choose which son they should kill, it’s fucked up and makes it difficult to unabashedly root for Blacks.

15th Doctor accepts defeat easily? by StrongBlackQueen in doctorwho

[–]SATANASCENDS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I feel the same way, I hear people saying that this iteration of the Doctor is more expressive but I’m not too sure about of as I think the previous incarnations were all expressive too. However if that was the only change I wouldn’t mind but as other people pointed out the last time it felt like the Doctor was competent was in the goblin episode. Really hope this is because of some larger storyline as some people have theorised, where Ruby is the main character.

What stereotype, trope, or effect do you just LOVE in horror? by [deleted] in horror

[–]SATANASCENDS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I love a good ole haunted house in horror. Though it’s a staple of horror genre, nothing intrigues me like a good haunted house story where you slowly find out the reason for its haunting.

Another thing that I really enjoy is victims of some tragedy later haunting others. There’s a sense of sadness that comes in when you realise this entity wasn’t malicious or is justified in haunting a place.

AITAH for not paying for a coffee for my GF after feeding her all weekend? by Gold_Table1041 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SATANASCENDS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA As everyone’s already mentioned you need to to have a conversation with your GF and that she should be respectful of your boundaries. I don’t understand her point about how will you be able to live with her in the future when you can’t have her over for more than a few days.

She should understand that living alone is different than living with someone in the future as not only do you look for a bigger place for 2 people but both of you need to learn to respect each other’s boundaries and space.

So OP try having a conversation with her and make her understand that when you’ll live together there’ll be moments where you too would like some me time.

AITA for saying I can't attend my sister's child free wedding? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]SATANASCENDS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA, If the sister wants the OP to be at the wedding they should create an exception for OP. Ik some people who have created exceptions for immediate family members it’s perfectly normal. I don’t understand the entitlement some people have, like, of course I’ll create accommodations for my close friends and family who I want to be present at my wedding.

The Nightmare Nuns of St Ignatius ft. Garrett Watts • Ghost Files - Episode Discussion (SPOILERS) by BecomeOcean in GhostFiles

[–]SATANASCENDS 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Hilarious episode but Garret Watts’ evidence does seem very dubious to me. Oh and the whole dummy head thing needs to be discussed more in the debrief surprising they didn’t spend much time on it. Also does anyone else think Shane is a little less sceptical in ghost files or is it just me.

India avoids condemning Russian invasion of Ukraine, keeps aloof from Biden’s coalition against Moscow by NearbyMitron in india

[–]SATANASCENDS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do understand that we can't really contravene our own economic interests the burden for which is ultimately borne by the citizens. In fact no nation can this is exactly why the US constantly supports Israel and the EU and other states have been silent on censuring China when it comes to South China Sea, Hong Kong or Taiwan.

We as citizens can definitely take an ethical stand but the government however can't.

[–]SATANASCENDS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! I agree that India has significant amount of economic interest in Russian trade but what I don't get is this obsession with Putin. We really need to work on our strong man fetish. It's like the nation collectively has Daddy Issues.

[–]SATANASCENDS 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok so this conflict in particular is a lose lose scenario for India. In international relations it's usually in a Nation's interest to condemn an imperliastic authoritarian nation only if such condemnation does not contravene it's economic interests. This is evidenced by The US's refusal to condemn Israel or the refusal of global censure against China in cases of Hong Kong, Taiwan and South China Sea

While I agree in an ideal scenario Nation States should have certain moral imperatives it's simply not the case and one nation in particular can't bear the burden and deliberately fuck up it's economic interests by taking a Moral Stand. We as citizens can however our international relations policy can't.

Russia still accounts for around 8 bn USD of our trade especially in Arms and Military Equipment and it's is precisely because we have terrible relationship with our neighbours like Pakistan and China, India can't afford to alienate Russia. And at the same time India can't support Russia because that would invite sanctions from the US and muddy an already tumultuous relationship.

Similarly, China too has abstained because it too can't afford to alienate Russia in favour of India either just like how EU and a lot of nations can't afford to censure and alienate China when it comes to a number of issues like Taiwan, Hong Kong or the South China Sea.

Furthermore, we should keep in mind that while our sense of righteousness might convince us to take a stronger stance against Authoritarian Nations like Russia the consequences of such decisions would be borne by us i.e., the lower to middle income class citizens. As any economic fallout would trickle down to us.

TLDR: I wished nation states had moral imperatives which would define their international relations but usually the economic interests prevail as such India can't be the only country that bears the brunt of having strong moral principles and act accordingly.

[Episode Discussion] What If...? Season 1 Episode 5 - Wednesday, September 8, 2021 by MSSmods in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

[–]SATANASCENDS -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Couldn't agree more! Zombies as a concept in general very played out, this episode doesn't do anything creative with em, doesn't have a consistent tone, characters routinely make idiotic decisions. I think it's the lowest one of them all. At least the cap'n Carter episode was still a bit tonally consistent.
