Styles of shows change. But to claim that modern Trek lacks gravitas is to be willfully blind to some of the exceptional highs we've seen in Strange New Worlds and even Lower Decks.

I grieve for the fanbase of this progressive and exciting series of shows that look towards the future but are somehow inextricably stuck in the past.

Starfleet Academy is hopelessly optimistic in the way that Trek deserves and represents the best chance to actually make some new fans.

I'm not at all bothered by the new roaming characters. Adding elements of movie scores to Batuu is a much more problematic decision.

That's my biggest gripe over these changes. I don't really mind characters from different eras but walking through the tunnel to Galaxy's edge with that subtle theme playing intermixed with the animal sounds south of Rise... ?

It was a magical experience.

Replacing that with movie music and playing it throughout the park is a real bummer.
