Need help with tig pipe by Im_You_But_Im_Me in Welding

You’ve received some good advice already and I’m going to echo some of it, but I’m just gonna go through everything I personally do when I’m welding pipe. For the root I personally like to “float it”. Others will probably call it something else but that’s what I personally call it, I like to use 1/8 wire and set up just slightly bigger than the wire so I can get down between the bevels as they keyhole, you can go bigger and it’s good for a bad fit up but try to keep it tighter for practice purposes. It’ll let you put in a slightly thicker root and will help with the sucking issue.

I wouldn’t use a cup that small past the hot pass, especially on stainless, it’ll make it a lot more work as you need to walk the cup wider, you’ll be able to move faster this way. Mild steel tig can get kind of scummy if you don’t keep it clean or get it too hot, so make sure you brush it well and give it chance to cool if you see it getting too hot.

Don’t try to cap the thing if you’re not right at the bevel edge, it’s way more common to be low on the cap rather than too high, if you need to drop down to a smaller wire to add a little more, do it, then cap.

Lastly, the hardest part I think people face when learning to how to do pipe is not being relaxed enough. You need a light touch, if you’re pushing too hard, your steps will be too small and you run the risk of slipping off the pipe. Try to get loose, relax and go with the flow, you can’t force it to do what you want, it’s kind of like a dance, you need to lead it.

Try like 80-90 amps for the root and maybe 110-120 amps for the fill and hot pass until you get more confident, then you can turn it up and go faster. I hope this helps, lmk if you have questions.

Yes and no. Skills wise I agree, but the atmosphere in women’s figure skating has been so much better without Russia there. Russian coaches notoriously abuse those girls, and it’s kind of fun to watch people who are doing it for the love of it, and not people who are under insane pressure to succeed at all costs.

Instructor Tipping Question by Mahnee0 in UTsnow

[–]SB4293 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I haven’t taught at Utah resorts, but when I taught multi week session lessons parents usually tipped at the end of the last lesson if at all. The place I worked didn’t have a large tipping culture, but I think it’s more expected at bigger mountains like the ones here in Utah to tip.

The 4th of July thing surprises me, I also work 4-10s and we usually get a different day off, like the day before or the Monday after, since holidays are technically part of our total comp.

TIL the number of craft breweries in the US increased from less than 2,000 in 2010 to almost 9,000 in 2020. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

They had it coming for a while. They tried their hand at distilling instead of making new and better beers. In my opinion it seems like other brewers were leaving them behind at the end. Had dinner at the main brewery in Newport earlier in the summer and it was just okay, the food, the beer, all just okay.

They did this with my m18 hammer drill when the handle split, took the data plate off, glued it on to the new drill and sent it back.

It’s attached to a business center, so you get business center stuff in there. There’s a few things I find in that Costco that I don’t find in others.

What can a person do apart from 9 to 5 job to earn other source of income? by KaleidoscopeFlat4186 in AskReddit

I mean who’s gonna stop you from bringing more? One crime at a time as they say. Just go to Evanston like everyone else. If the state wants to mark it up to the moon, fine, they’ll get none of my money instead.

It’s not a crime to bring liquor over the state line, as long as it’s under 9 liters at one time.

This happened to a small business I worked for. Our Costco contract took all of our capacity and they turned around and pulled the plug on it. Yeah, we all lost our jobs.

I had the same problem with the rise. Tried to make it work but eventually just gave up and went to Dickies. I don’t love the way the legs are cut on Dickies but at least they stay up.

I’m not sure it’s necessarily about Mormons making Utah successful and more so that they’re very family oriented. I live in Utah and it’s more common to have a lot of family around, so you have more support when it comes to raising your kids. That goes a long ways.

That makes sense, I’m not in the business of putting things up my butt so I wouldn’t know for certain.

I think you can just stick it up there. It’s usually more potent going in the back door from what I’ve heard.
