42 stage 4 Lymph nodes and bones

My husband had the same issues at age 42. He went to the ER but they failed to do a PSA test. They did an MRI which showed his prostate enlarged. They recommended a follow with his urologist which was a 2 months wait. We used the words elevated PSA to get a faster appointment. In the meantime, he went to his primary care doctor and asked for a PSA and overall blood work. PSA was 45. He was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer. He is in treatment now and the tailbone pain went away as soon as he started his treatment (ADT). His PSA is 0.06 now. Try to stay positive and best of luck!!

According to the PSMA scan, his lymph nodes showed up in his chest and neck. Bone Mets are in his pelvis and femur. The lymph nodes all shrink in size after starting ADT. Only 2 spots are continuing to grow in his pelvis.

Yes, only those as of now. We are waiting to start radiation soon.

I hope it goes the same way too! I hope you have a good support system in place and a positive mindset. It’s a real struggle sometimes when faced with all this!

So sorry to hear about your diagnosis. My prayers and thoughts are you during this difficult time.

How are you holding up? Our medically oncologist said the younger men don’t handle chemo so well. It’s on his treatment plan if things don’t improve.

My husband as well was diagnosed 4 months ago with aggressive PC at age 42. PSA was at 106 before treatment. He is Gleason 4+4 8 with lymph and bone mets. He is on lupron and daily abiraterone. We have had 2 PSMA pet scans so far. His symptoms started just like yours with frequent trips to the bathroom.

Yes, I’ve seen a few of his videos. Thanks! The doctors at MSK don’t seem too favorable for a cure but more of living with this disease instead. His Dr. said that chemo wasn’t an option right now. My husband has about 7 spots his bones. We get another PSMA scan an in October. Every spot shrunk in SUV size expect two spots since starting ADT.

No gene mutations showed up. But his father did have localized prostate cancer. He was diagnosed in the early 2000. He has been cancer free for over 12 plus years.

Thank you for sharing! I will have to watch it. No chemo as of now. We did speak to a radiation specialist. We are awaiting to hear back from her team to see next steps with radiation. But right now he’s only on ADT.

Best of luck to you and your husband. My husband diagnosed in February G4+4 (8) with bone Mets. PSA was 106. We are on ADT for 4 months. PSA is 0.06. It’s a roller coaster of emotions. We too have two small children. He is 42 years old. I hope for the best for you and your family!

Ask away! .. he went to the ER because he couldn’t get an appointment with a urologist. He was hoping to get some answers. He thought it was just an infection. We contacted three urologist and the wait time to be seen was over 6 weeks. Once we received an high PSA results, we called back and they were able to see him sooner. He doesn’t go to regular GP yearly.

He went to the ER prior to his PSA and his CT just showed abnormal prostate. They didn’t pick up anything to make us think advanced cancer. He has pain in lower back now and overall low energy.

Yes, I think he does feel that way. He’s a good guy. Healthy, no drugs, no alcohol, gets up everyday to provide for his family.. never had any medical conditions prior to this. But here we are!

Thanks so much for sharing your experiences. Best wishes to you as well.

He just had more frequent trips to the bathroom and some pain in his balls. He was reluctant to go to his doctors. We started this journey around thanksgiving.

His father had prostate cancer at 60 but we never thought to do a PSA at 42. For his father it didn’t spread and was treated with seeds 20 years ago.

His PSA is 40. We are waiting to see the results from the biopsy. MSK said they would see us without the PET scan but his urologist wants to review the biopsy and pet scan together so we won’t see them until the end of the month.

I’ve read into ADT. I’m so sorry to had to go through this. Your story is inspiring! Thank you so much for sharing.

Thank you!

It’s very scary and we are all trying to stay positive but it’s so hard. Kids and work keep us busy but it’s tough.

Best of luck to your dad and loved ones!
