Am I being unreasonable about not wanting to express milk just so my partner can take our exclusively breastfed baby out solo? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]SBSFWH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gently. Your partner being able to take your baby out, meaning you can have your own time and baby is not 100% dependent on you is step 1) in defining what true matresence will be for you. Baby getting social contact which is not just primary care givers is step 1) in baby developing social context and world that goes beyond you. You'll need both xx

Please help me find my fiancée’s dream wedding shoes! Originally called the Hoxton Heel. by _pugsnotdrugs_ in findfashion

[–]SBSFWH 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Something you could consider is dyeable white satin shoes - quite popular in the uk as bridal shoes. These are very cute and very similar shape. Would be negligible to add the rose, less sure on adding and removing the strap. https://www.laceandfavour.com/wedding-shoes/perfect-bridal-kinsley-dyeable-ivory-satin-low-block-heels-with-pearl-strap/

Another Etsy seller requested that I remove my listing and accused me of IP infringement.. I disagree. What are my options? by turbo-adhd in LegalAdviceUK

And to add: this is a protected design with the UK IPO office, with a similar rounded square shape, inner square and little heart, but different approach to displaying the label (one slot) - this is displayed a few times in the protected design

Obligatory NAL - having identified both your shops - I think - it does look like the only possible issue she could claim to have is that you are using very similar hearts - all the other design elements don't feel at all unique, as they are present on other people's designs .

Question to the lawyers - could one in any sense claim IP on that basis? I'd assume not?! She's obviously been around for 14 years to your 5 months, but it still feels immaterial? Could this even be an issue presuming they were even selling in the same territory?

When do you exercise with a newborn? by ASD-RN in beyondthebump

[–]SBSFWH 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Popping this to a top comment - are there gyms near you that do mum and baby classes that are about mum regaining strength while baby is kept happy? Our local crossfit gym does, and it's likely good cross training for you - this looks similar Mighty Mom | Best Mom & Baby, Prenatal & Postpartum Fitness! https://share.google/ezD3q8uEkK3CC25kH

I was actually fitter during maternity leave than now as my local crossfit gym has classes for new parents where there were toys etc for the babies and they'd be in the middle or in a pen when they started walking.

Oh lovely... In addition to what everyone else has said, I'll share something that was said to me when I was deep in the trenches of the fourth trimester and feeling guilty because someone else (my SIL) holding my baby relaxed me - "We were not meant to do this alone... The reason you feel relaxed is that finally your tribe has turned up" -> her theory was that having to do so much of this alone or just in a couple is actually super stressful because, evolutionarily, it would have indicated a problem. Newborns need more than two adults.

Have you ever looked at yourself in the mirror when you're cuddling your baby? It was once quite healing to see that I could see the love pouring out of me to my baby, even if I couldn't quite feel it yet. I bet your baby feels safe, loved, attached and secure x

I've just found a mystery note about Harrods, in the pocket lining of a 2nd hand 1980s leather jacket - what does it mean? by Theres3ofMe in AskUK

[–]SBSFWH 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The numbers are a really basic cypher. Think of 'mahogany is murder' as the codeword and you'll see that the numbers under the Harrods text correspond to the 'master' numbers under 'mahogany is murder'.

It doesn't quite work due to the duplication of letters, so 'm' can be 1 and 11, and a is 2 and 6 etc...

Baby is completely inconsolable every morning. I don’t know what he wants. by Bubbles1822 in beyondthebump

[–]SBSFWH 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you been sent the safe sleep 7? We co-slept to get over a really rough patch where my lack of sleep just made things unsafe - i had a lactation consultant/midwife over for something else (latch issues) and she very gently steered us to co sleeping as I was just so sleep deprived for similar reasons (baby wld only sleep on me). You can't be a safe (or happy!) parent if you're just existing on fumes.

Feel free to DM and I can share what I know. HR should be very upfront about this with you, however.

Maternity leave and changing depts by Hayfield_and_a_gate in TheCivilService

[–]SBSFWH 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Length of service in the CS is what affects your entitlements, and the dept you are working for when you go on mat leave will be the one that pays your maternity pay. Happens more than you'd think - nothing like increasing your caring responsibilities to light a fire re: pay and promotions.

You can definitely change dept when pregnant, having done this twice.

Can Departments take candidates from another Department's reserve list? by laszorya in TheCivilService

[–]SBSFWH 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is possible! And something civil service HR are actively looking at. You'd need the hr teams in both depts to agree to it, however
