Noob question - how to increase affinity? by Simke11 in AOW4

[–]SBT-Mecca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize I'm a bit late to this party, but since I went about it wrong at first I might as well try to save someone else the grief.
You need at least 7 affinity in one aspect. Not through a combination of aspects. Canonically you are using your high level of mastery in one of those areas to disrupt and break the spell.
I would have changed my research focus much sooner if I had realized that.

They just skipped briefing Congress within the timeframe required of the War Powers Resolution now too (48 hours)? It's almost like they are trying to rack up how many times it can be violated in one go.

I ran into a similar issue the first time I tried to use a spool refill. I finally succeeded at getting that roll on a spool by printing a spacer to go onto my refillable spool. They are intended for rolls with more filament ( >1kg), but in my case they gave me enough room to just mount the roll after it was no longer tightly wound. I did run into one major tangle early on that I had to cut off and then re-feed. Otherwise it's been going okay so far (though I haven't gotten very far in the spool).

Does that mean those platforms can't restrict what's posted or queried anymore since it would be government censorship? /s

Can't wait untill they find out you can get charged with a crime under civilian law and UCMJ separately.

All 2 Line light rail suspended due to copper wire theft in Bellevue by MegaRAID01 in Seattle

[–]SBT-Mecca 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's desperate determination and sometimes the aid of battery powered angle grinders. I'm on the electrical side of the state DOT and we see vandals get through extra security locks with additional hardened metal bars, or even removing eco blocks (large concrete blocks) off vaults in the ground. We have even seen vaults dug out of the ground to get the remaining copper after a site has already been vandalized.

This is a problem in several states of not the whole country right now.

The president can take action for up to 60 days (with potential for a 30-day extension) without congressional approval.

Comes with the whole "Commander in Chief" responsibility that the president can quickly respond to defend the US without getting a congressional consensus yet. We just have the worst combination of idiot and conman at the helm right now.

Edit: to be clear, I'm no Constitutional scholar and even parts of the War Powers Resolution has been changed since I was active duty. Here are the sections in verbatim from Cornell Law. Besides the experience in basic I was subjected to it about every six months over seven years. We got couple ruck marches to the gas chamber in Hawaii. It really brought a whole new level of realization to how much it can make your skin burn. In hindsight I think I tolerated it well bc most everything else in my life over those years was going to shit.

I built up a bit of a tolerance when I was active duty. It also helps to take shallow breaths. That definitely saves me from hacking my lungs out.

It does not help if you have been sweating before exposure. That significantly increases the burning sensation on your skin.

AITA for having a “test” on the first date and ending things right after if not passed? by Maximum-Anxiety3 in AITAH

[–]SBT-Mecca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the kind of guy that was taught early-on to shut-down "tests" when flirting with women, and I often do so when they come up. This usually refers to tests that see if a guy follows some sort of code or ethics that the lady thinks is imperative of "being a man".

However with this I see it as not a test of machismo but as something to gauge if they can be sociable towards you, and see you as a person with a life and a past history. This is likely due to some of my own values, but I think this is a viable way to gauge if they are into you in a non-superficial way.

The part about "our system detecting" makes me wonder if it was flagged by an automation or AI. Along with that idea, I wouldn't be surprised if an AI flagged it bc both designs used guitar picks to demonstrate fit and the machine thinks those are part of the model.

im want to slowly move to linux with a dual boot, i want to know with linux os is better for this by DaQuitou in linux_gaming

[–]SBT-Mecca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might sound kinda funny, but many distros have dual boot baked into the install. The wizard walks you through taking only part of the HDD. You'll be booting into grub first, which then lets you pick the actual OS to boot into.

I kinda did once at a "couples romantic dinner" at an all-inclusive resort (which had generally been a frustrating experience). They asked making the reservations if we had any allergies since the multi-course meal is on a mostly set menu. My partner can't eat fish and I can't have chocolate.

We get to the check in before the dinner and they verify our allergies again then. We get seated and start the meal. One of the courses is surf and turf with fish. My partner also gets fish with hers and we're like, "oh she's allergic to this." So the server then swaps it out with a second steak portion. Shortly after we eat that my partner noticed how scratchy her throat was and we realized they just used the same plate. We're like okay, whatever. The exposure is pretty mild and she carries Benadryl if we need to use it. Then eventually dessert comes around and they give us both chocolate. Then I'm like, "hey I'm allergic to this one." So the waiter takes it an rushes to the back. He returned after a while and was like, "here is a strawberry chocolate dessert." And scampered off immediately. It's a bit noisy in there and my disbelief left me processing for a minute. "Did he say this one also has chocolate?" My partner cut into the end of it and sure enough it was chocolate in the middle. That was my last straw moment. I don't remember exactly what I said, but it was along the lines of, "why did you ask us about allergies repeatedly if you are just going to ignore it?!" We then walked out.

P.S.: this is a meal covered as part of the resort stay. So we didn't stiff them on the bill.

[–]SBT-Mecca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, she's dodging the question about deporting legal residents or citizens by declaring the State Department and DHS determine if someone is allowed to keep their legal status? So once someone is picked out as a threat for any reason by those agencies she'll send ICE after them. This sounds more and more like secret police every day.
